yeah, the adaptations do take some liberties, but overall stays fairly faithful to the sources.

Apparently, there were also three niggers in the American army that habitually went and gang raped Okinawan villiage girls at night during the initial US occupation of the island. The US Army found out, reprimanded the niggers, and attempted to cover this up, of course.

If this story were true, the behavior of the three niggers would not surprise me at all. Not surprisingly, this was not depicted in the movie.
