What exactly 'was' Terashi suppose to be. He clearly wasn't meant to be an Assassin from the jump since his mission was incredibly impractical and the whole "Just do it lol" was clearly Sandro trying to handwave away the issue of "Hiring a weapon-user to barehand assassinate a dude in a fighting org". I'm almost inclined to believe that he was an Agito clone but because Sandro have a 1 million and 1 idea's all fighting for relevancy that idea got scrapped around the time Agito fought Lu tian, who in my opinon wasn't suppose to be "Evil Agito" till before Misasa fought Yumi because "Whoops, who's suppose to fight Agito now and make it cool?" and now Sandro needs to rework Terashi's backstory because the clone thing isn't gonna cut it anymore

I think some of the guys Muteba was sitting on in his skydiving fight scene had stab wounds, so presumably the knife he brought to that fight worked. Pretty sure young Ohma killed some Insiders with stabbings as well. There’s also the 100% Guihun release dude with the sidecut that Howard unceremoniously splattered although it happened so fast that strictly speaking, we don’t have actual proof he was cut in half with his blade and not like-ripped apart or something.

Oh alright, yeah if we’re discounting mob deaths then the list gets much shorter. I legitimately can only think of Koga getting knifed by the mooks, and the sidecut Wu who was given a name before getting splattered (assuming Howard did in fact cut him). Bando does not count because 1. he was attacked by goofy pneumatic bone blades not real knives, 2. the main mechanism of death was a bioweapon not cutting force and 3. HE DIDN’T FUCKING DIE. Similarly Mukaku and Willem don’t count because a katana/wonky oversized sword is much bigger than a regular knife, and because in both cases the decisive factor was King Shen/Princess Raian having bullshit Principles magic with which they could’ve probably killed their opponents with a brick in a sock or something just as effectively. Eddie is an edge case (no pun intended). Xing didn’t kill him with a fucking neck stab…but it DID create the wound that let Raian finish him off.

If he needs brutality and painful moves, then he'll use them as we saw with Meguro, but the most efficient way to fight Seki was the heart jab. Against Waka, he needed a way out of a grapple from an overbearingly strong opponent, which is just the kind of thing he would have learned pressure point BS for. I think it makes sense, in a fantastical sort of way, for him to want a tool for any sort of situation. Robbed of weapons and fighting someone bigger and stronger than him? Then sure, the heart jab makes sense. It's quick and easy and he's skilled enough to pull it off.
If he gets into a grapple with someone who could overpower him, his options are

I think, in the case of the acupuncture techniques at least, it could very well be a case of Sandro having multiple distinct ideas for characters and having to make a call on what to include.
We know that originally Muteba was going to be a Russian merc who used systema, so maybe somewhere in a graft there was more Chinese acupuncture stuff that just got folded into Muteba's reworked character to compensate for the parts of him that got scrapped.
It doesn't make a ton of outright sense, but we've seen stranger coincidences. Falcon's character in Omega is a ball of silliness when you break him down.
