let's break down this propaganda.
>Over 300,000 minors, under age 18, were legally married in the U.S. since 2000.
a statement that tells us nothing. i don't think anyone cares if a 17 year old gets married. they are purposefully inflating the number by including people in the dataset who are not part of the problem.
>A few were as young as 10.
"a few" tells us a lot here. we know they want to exaggerate the problem as much as possible. if they were talking about 100 kids, they would say something like "many" or "hundreds". if the best they could do while still being remotely honest is "a few", then this is probably referring to a number that is a lot closer to ten than 100.
>Most were girls wed to adult men an average of four years older.
most would agree this is not a big problem. further demonstrating the fact that you are massively exaggerating your 300,000.
>In most states and under federal law, sex with a child that would otherwise be considered rape – in some cases, felony rape – becomes legal within marriage. In those situations, the marriage license becomes a “get out of jail free” card for a child rapist.
these statements are completely useless and could be omitted entirely.
>At least 60,000 child marriages in the U.S. between 2000 and 2018 occurred at an age or with a spousal age difference that should have been considered a sex crime.
a meaningless statement without defining what you think should be considered a "sex crime."
>Of those child marriages, 88% gave a rapist a “get out of jail free” card, while 12% sent a child home to be raped.
i just straight up don't know what this means.
