Equal parts misunderstanding of Yamato’s character and Oda fumbling Yamato.

Oda made his case with Kiku by designing her to look, act, and dress as feminine as possible despite being biologically male. Yamato is strangely being treated as the inverse, despite the fact that Yamato doesn’t dress or present herself as masculine as possible. Yamato is strictly Odensexual and identifies on all levels(except physical) as Oden out of sheer boyish fanaticism, exactly the same fanaticism that we saw with Kinemon and Denjiro as juveniles.

Oda made a mistake with Yamato identifying as Oden instead of being inspired Oden. As I’ve said before, Yamato doesn’t try to look masculine, and on top of that, Yamato isn’t even acting like Oden in the slightest, she doesn’t bother with wielding dual-swords or obsessing over oden (the food) or learning the Kozuki family history and generational trade of stonemasonry or poneglyph reading.
If you’re going to make a character whose entire quirk is LARPing as another character, as dogshit as that is, don’t half-ass it. Go all the way, or don’t bother.
