I expected this to be just a short animation to accompany the movie, but it definitely has its own plot and with the length being almost an hour, this is more like an additional movie like the 3 before. Pleasantly surprised, I enjoyed it very much, now I can't wait for the movie.

To think we had to wait 6 years, and now the content from that Koike movie project basically doubled this month - Lupin fans eating good.

Just watched the raw of the ONA, I had no idea it was going to be a full hour. You can tell it's lower budget with some of the shitty CGI backgrounds but I appreciate having this much extra on top of the actual movie.
I'm still perplexed about what they're going for with Mamo but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, this was pretty enjoyable.

I don't think it ever was in spite of using Fujiko style designs. Even from the Jigen movie, they had Lupin and Jigen as long time partners already and skipped any kind of introduction to Goemon, even though Fujiko went out of its way to avoid Goemon meeting the others face to face (to allow his Part 1 origin to still possibly happen afterwards). Through all these movies, they haven't referenced any specifically from the Fujiko Mine series either.

Mystery of Mamo, Prison of the Past, Alcatraz Connection, Walther P-38, First Contact, and if you're okay with the change in voice cast, Fuma Conspiracy. That's just right off the top of my head.
I also would recommend the Koike movies. They have the same aesthetic as the Fujiko series, but they're actually good, for the most part.

I haven't seen the last ONA but CGI has been the one blight on these productions at least since the second one. Goemon's Blood Spray has all the CGI fire and smoke in the opening scene and Fujiko Minne's Lie had the CGI sand. I usually don't care too much about this stuff but here it clashes badly with retro style of the art direction and lavish production values are the least you'd expect from Koike.

Overall pretty boring and the pacing is pretty bad. The only highlight I could think of was the Mamoru Oshii episode which was the one closest to the feeling of the older parts like 1. Everything else is just played too safe and the main overarching plot of going against "Sherlock Holmes" kept being broken up in very incoherent ways.
Lupin also has a very bizarre behavior and personality for some reason.
