It's set six to seven years after the end of the series and is told from Azusa's perspective, who's in her last year of university. She hasn't been active in music since leaving high school but a chance encounter during one of her classes with an amateur musician reignites her spark when they start hanging around and word of a battle of the bands she's going to participate in makes its way down to Azusa. She decides she wants to reunite her band to participate as well and starts reaching out to everyone, which is how the story catches up with the original four (and Sawako).
Yui: Left school without graduating to pursue a career in art instead. Now lives in Tokyo doing freelance commercial projects but still has difficulty meeting deadlines and staying on-task.
Ritsu: Graduated with a degree in journalism and tried working as a music journalist for the first year or so out of college but didn't like the work. Got recruited by someone she met in college with a recording studio business and was made the studio manager of their new Tokyo location. which she enjoys a lot more.
Mio: Shifted her career ambitions to astronomy while in college and got her undergrad in the field before moving to another school in northern Japan to pursue a Ph.D. Right on the cusp of her final dissertation and getting her degree.
Tsumugi: Lives in Europe as an employee of one of her father's corporate subsidiaries, working in an executive development program.
Sawako: Now the dean/assistant principal of the high school, although still acts as music club advisor. Got married and has a 1-year old son.
