As always the case, source 'readers' will tell you the source is better but 99 times out of 98 the anime adapted the best part.

Ranko was excessively beautiful to the point I wonder why was Rea considered to be the most beautiful girl of the school. Her dynamic with MC was more interesting as well.
I like to tell myself that the MC married Ranko at the end.
Itβs hard for me to describe but this is one of those shows where I think the entire emotional content of the story is captured in the OP. Another way to say it might be that when I think of the show I think of the OP and I might even listen to it, but I donβt care about rewatching the show itself.

At the final chapter Rea lose control and ate Chihiro's heart. Later Chihiro is healed using a fake heart and meet meet Rea at a party where the manga ends. The epilogue reveal two children implied to be Chihiro or Ranko's grandchild investigate a ghost which turns out to be still zombiefied Rea who tells them to give her regard to their grandmother.
>2012
Essentially the last year of anything resembling traditional anime. >2010+ Tokyo laws hurt new manga/LNs. Self-censorship and social conscious era begins >Anime goes mainstream thanks to Netflix and Hulu. Sanitization for global market begins >Isekai became 70% of anime and it affected writing and publishing for all genres

I read the manga but it was back when it was still being published. Didn't watched the anime. Barely remember anything else than that the dad took pictures of her naked every year.

First time I've mentioned it on /a/ and first time I've really been on /a/ in, like, two years.
Maybe you should actually look into it if you didn't live it? I believe the censorship issues started in the mid 2000s but it's the 2010 laws that really scared creators and publishers.

the anime went the incredibly odd route of doing one episode per chapter, and then also having one or two episodes that were completely new content not adapted from the manga. it was strange. it didn't actually feel slow when watching it, but it meant very little progress was made, and it never had any chance of being a complete adaptation

I can't forget about this anime because every time I see a hydrangea, without fail, the words "cold dead zombie pussy" go through my head.
