Nadia is surprisingly cute. I kinda liked the first couple episodes of the filler arc, just because it was Jean and Nadia playing mommy and daddy. The animation was actually some of the worst I've seen though, like Flintstones tier.

Rei is really the best Evangelion girl, always was. It's irrevocably baked into the lore, story and plot too.

Anno though, he never said such a thing, he said that her smile was too soon, which is quite different.
Asuka fans often intentionally misconstrue this and other statements to pretend Rei "stopped" at ep six. Truth is that after episode six Rei grows even more and her and Shinji's development together is the pivotal relationship which enables both his and hers and thus the story's conclusion.

Rei was the most popular and the "premium girl" (still is in some regards) back then, justifiably so.
