Didn't see a thread so I figure this will do. Great episode, I love Nadeshiko already and Sayaka had some great moments in this. The direction and animation is just non-stop incredible. I also wondered while watching how they were gonna translate the "soba" scene, checking now they didn't even bother, not even a T/N note? Shame, it made me laugh pretty hard.

Maybe it's just Aoyama being himself. Episodic stories are his bread and butter. Conan has been successful since 1994 precisely because it's almost like a sitcom, you can jump in at any point and enjoy, but it can also become a bore after you've gotten your fill of the formula.

Well, I cannot guarantee you will like this series. Personally however, when I was originally watching Yaiba, I came in with zero expectation because I thought it was some cute looking old school adventure series, and the first arc was so disappointing that I was gonna drop it because I thought it was just gonna be boring MOTW comedic fights. Then I got to the end and ending up loving this series but I want you to know that the the first arc was the weakest, worst and most generic arc of the original series. This second arc however, is where things really begin and it actually delivers what I was initially hoping for, an old-school adventure.

Sure, but it actually ended in a high note. When you watch that show as a kid without knowing that there's more story in manga form it doesn't feel wrong. It's open-ended but still satisfactory enough after how high the stakes were at the end and that big bad is defeated.
Can't say the same about many other partial adaptations.

Not currently watching, but I'm happy one of my core childhood manga got a modern adaptation. Personally I think it's one of the best adventure series. Finished with a high too.

I'm not talking about reusing the old OST every single time there's a remake, obviously there's going to be licensing issues there.
In Dai's case it should have been easy because they don't need the old anime music, but just licensing again the music from the games like the other studio did back then. Problem is, in this case in particular that's an absolute shitfest due to how troublesome and nitpicky the games composer was. SO they ended coming up with a completely new OST that pales in comparison to what could have been.

They tecnically aren't. Some Yaiba characters are shown to exist in the Conan universe as well, but they're just regular people, even if strong. It's the same as Kaito Kid being in the same universe as Conan but every instance of actual magic (there's a witch in magic Kaito) gets ignored. Conan as a detective show doesn't work if superpowers and magic are canon, as they break logic.

The crossover Yaiba/Conan OVA ends with Conan having been dreaming all of it after having read the Yaiba manga.

Nadeshiko is only in a single chapter of the manga so no wonder people didn't remember her. Her chapter is sandwiched between the cats arc (where scanlation stops at) and the time travel arc.
I fucking hate how nearly 100% of Yaiba search result are about Kimetsu no Yaiba, even though almost no one refers to that series as Yaiba.
