AGE had a boring artstyle. That was the first strike against it. You shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and shouldn't judge an anime by its key art, but we all have a limited amount of time to spare, and we aren't going to do so on something that looks like Beyblade.
The second was that it tried to smash 3 full Gundam stories into one, so the pacing was horrible, probably worse than GQX in many ways.
Third was that the directing was very standard and safe. Discounting the OVA, the best Gundam had always had their own flair and style to them. UC is uniquely Tomino. SEED has Fukada all over it. GQX is extremely stylish. AGE has nothing.

But to rebuttal you properly, age's pacing is way better than Gquuuux's, even flit's arc, which was the most rushed one is better paced. The arcs in AGE definetly should have been 3 seperate shows, not all crammed into one but even after having to back of from that plan, AGE does a much better job introducing you into what UC 's timeline is like more than any other gundam AU. As far as what make Age's plot unique is that really captures and leans into it's setting, giving you a real perspective of how the world changes over the generation. AGE is a solid show and people so really give it another look to realize what we kinda missed as an opportunity.
