Okay episode. The girls were cute, especially Sakurako. A few funny bits here and there. Some of the shaved ice looked genuinely delicious, but damn I could already feel the diabetes and calorie overload. The only time I'd do something like that without feeling bad is I'm doing some endurance sport like bike touring or something. The timelapse was the best part, plus also the reveal about the film.

But seriously, the subs were even more difficult to read this time. Surely it's not difficult to display two or three lines of subtitles on screen at the same time. You don't even have to typeset it in a fancy way.

I noticed especially in this episode that Sacchan is exactly the kind of character that Afro said he would write - a plain protagonist. Saying safe and plain things (e.g. food comments) and occasionally doing something that drives the plot forward (e.g. deciding to make a movie).

Fun and creative animation, good humor and characters being funny and cute, nice music, slower and more relaxed scenes where they're bonding over their time spent together, actual photography, full focus on the monos themselves, and a promise to make a film next, possibly taking up a huge chunk of next season if they dont do it next episode.

mono's direction and animation has been pretty good the entire season but yeah this episode was fantastic. The director was an AD on JJK and an ED on SnK before this. I like his direction and the study behind mono is off with a strong start so I'd be happyt to see more stuff from them, cgdct or not.

I don't know what it is about Satsuki's design, but she's just infinitely cuter in every hairstyle but her plain jane default one.

One of the art directors as well is Nomura Masanobu, who I'm sure /a/nons may already know, but he's the art director behind a lot of stuff, in recent years the Urusei Yatsura remake, Cyberpunk Edgerunners, PSG season 2 (and 1), Eizouken and Shuumatsu Train. Anyway I just got curious because the show looks great and I'm not too surprised to see a lot of talented people on it. As much as I love Hibimeshi I wish it looked as good as mono does on average.
