I felt it was more focused in character drama but in the end it was ultimately futile because Miyuki long plotted revenge against his adopted dad ironically took too long and the dad got dementia. In the end their story was about getting deeper into the mystery behind the Generic Kowloon and how Kubo is actually the final boss for Reiko to take on.

AOTS for me. Reminded me of old TV serials that ended on a cliffhanger every episode. I also appreciated the themes of identity, self-worth, and the dangers of getting too lost in nostalgia.

My main complaint is there needed to be more Reiko x Kudo interaction. I've read the manga and there were so many of them that could have been included. The Miyuki stuff should have been limited to one episode at most.

Also, Reiko is the ideal woman.

One thing to note though and you might already know this, is 'Kowloon' itself is basically a large but separate part of Hong Kong across the water, more gritty and cheaper(generally) than the main island which where all the finance stuff is.
But 'Kowloon Walled City' was just a unique(and illegal) very small but dense part of it that was demolished in 1994 and turned into a park irl.
In this show the Kowloon that we see is just a fictional timeline where people just went and said fuck that and decided to rebuild the walled city again at some point rather than let it get turned into a park. So it's only really related in spirit to the real walled city.

Show is doing really well. Kind of faltered in the middle but gained steam near the end. Can't wait for the finale. Reiko is getting her good ending for sure.
