102 episodes and that's how they leave it?
This show was a wild ride, but it's been years since anything dragged as hard as the New York shit.
Sana remains one of the best characters ever though, criminal that her seiyuu didn't do more roles but she is still going in radio land.

Anyway, Kodocha thread for the /a/nons who finished it.

I recently finished watching Kodocha, too. Funnily enough, it wasn't even because of the storytime. I had already planned on watching it and had downloaded it shortly before the daily started.
Yeah, the New York arc was great with the way it further explored the character of Naozumi and expanded his backstory. In general, there were some cases where certain tiny parts of the manga were extended quite nicely (like with the pond incident causing Mami to fear Akito (the part about her fearing Akito wasn't in the manga, but it makes a lot of sense) or the chick that Tsuyoshi's sister got from Sana).
My least favorite parts were Sana becoming homeless and Sana's father acting with her. Though both lead to some pleasant scenes between Akito and Sana, I feel they were overall not very well executed.

Kodocha - S02E15 - Run Away, Run Away, Across the Ocean.mkv_snapshot_15.57_[2025.05.08_20.26.50]
Started on my own and had the second season on hold, finished because of the daily. Anime has its sucky parts but overall I like it more than the manga because of better comedy to humor balance. Sana is great but I like anime Fuka more.

I started a few years ago, really liked it, but took a break around 30 eps in and never continued
I should get back to it

>the New York arc was great
It was horrendous and I didn't care about him at all. Total waste of ~20 episodes and the drumstick toy was awful.

No, just a happy coincidence. The first 30 episodes are where the show is at its peak, though Fuka is pretty awesome too.

Oops. Only now am I realizing that I read your original post too carelessly and thought you were praising it, hence the "yeah".
Eh, I do get how it can be a bore if you aren't especially interested in Naozumi, so let's agree to disagree.

I just think that Kodocha is at its best when Sana is being hyper and playing off Akito, and their romance blossoming from that. new York completely removed these and tried doing some kind of side character melodrama hot on the heels of Sana melodrama in the mountains. I really wish the show stayed like it was in the first couple of cours, it would have been an instant classic and easy recommend, but as it is you need to qualify it.
