New chapter today. I still think this is going to turn into a weird crush.
Dumpanon here, will dump chapter here with delay(10-15min), because of irl stuff. Sorry in advance.

>>279885624I noticed that detail too
Fuuuuuck Axeman better not blueball us with a mini-chapter in 2 weeks
>>279885162Maybe this is exactly why? He seems to keep his own convictions even against the Shopkeeper and this is why he values him so highly. As long as he won't go directly against the country/royalists, his point of view would be valuable in the planing of the next moves for Garden. Being surrounded by the yes men would only dull the one in charge. Not to mention the plethora of experience and how his body is still keeping up with superhuman-tier "co-workers"

>>279885747Get back to the ciggie stand you afroed midget

>>279885183Cheek kiss incoming.
>>279885321The setup is surprisingly "commit to your marriage for real or get out of it." And Axeman didn't take the easy route and just have her not talk to Loid. I think what happens next depends on how aware Yor is of her own feelings. In order to confess to Loid, she has to realize she's in love with him. I think she does.
>>279885624Watch it as the life returns to her eyes the moment Loid welcomes her back and when she goes into overdrive from a welcome home kiss.
Just like how Loid went full COMPROMISED after he came back home from the last mission.
>>2798858269 months after tonight, yes.
>>279885492Yeah, i don't think she will just tell loid that she's an assassin. She'd tell yuri first.
I think yor fed up with fake marriage and want to make it real.
>>279885885Wow, Loid and Fiona must be getting real freaky behind that door!
>>279885624You can see her slowly going back to these during the car ride back. She drops them for a single frame when she's talking to Anya.
>>279885321 (me)
Also, if I see even a single drop of alcohol featured in the next chapter I will personally fly over to Axeman's studio and riot
>>279885183Odds of something of consequence actually happening? Personally I strongly doubt it.

This is endo first successful series.
He knows how difficult it is to make be this successful, he wouldn't just end it before he can tell every plots he have in his head.
Yeah, plots like martha's background, it add nothing to the sxf story whatspever, probably a plot for one shot.
>>279886050You know what's funny.
If endo want it, lin can make this manga run as long as conan.
>>279885183Anyabros... I don't feel good... Orphanage again vibes rising.
>>279884003Don't have high hopes anon, this is axeman we are talking about
There's no way she spills the beans about her real job. Axeman doesn't have it in him to do it.
What I want to happen if the above doesn't happen is that she tells him that she has a secret but she can't reveal it yet. That she genuinely cares about both him and Anya but is worried that what she can't tell him would mean they'd leave her. So she selfishly asks him for some reassurance.
Then let Twilight's spy autism go nuts as
he wonders what to do, throw some Redacted in there, and lets see who wins.
Or better yet. She spills the beans by starting from the beginning, and this is how her childhood flashback starts.
It's a lot to ask for I know.

>>279885941This is probably getting way ahead of things, but I've wondered recently if alcohol is going to factor into her backstory. Axeman has made a big deal about how she had no life pre-Forgers, never left her apartment outside work, no hobbies, etc. Despite this, she came to the family with already something of a drinking problem. (Note that she's always called out as drinking too much rather than being a lightweight.) It's always been played off as a gag, but it was one of the few things about her that wasn't completely robotic. I guess I could just see Axeman recontextualizing it someday.
>>279884125They're professionals, and it's not like they could say it was nothing
>>279885183>Loid walks out and he has a halo around his head
>>279884065I love that with the bird
>>279885218She's gonna demand he kiss her womb instead
>>279884481It's pretty funny ye
>>279884481Did you just found out that this is a romcom?
>>279884730>Hemlock is considering marriage to get strongerFucking called it
>>279886342>She spills the beans by starting from the beginning, and this is how her childhood flashback starts. This is the only acceptable compromise here. Axeman doesn't have it in him to reveal anything concrete to Loid regarding their secret identities or to allow an unambiguous romantic development, but he will allow them to share personal details with each other. Yor is also the most forthcoming, so even if she just says she found a job to provide for Yuri, she's still likely to add more details leading up to that.
>>279884803The bird is kind of underrated. Him doing bird things is pretty amusing in a sensible way
>>279886401Axeman would be way unmedicated to recontexualize that gag. Then again he did eventually think up Henderson getting brutalized and arrested as the reason for him wearing a monocle.
>>279886004Didn't Endo literally say no plot progression ever until the sales start dipping?
>>279886342She already said she's not going to tell him. I don't think she'll even tell him she has a secret. I think they'll just talk about feelings. Which will surely be great for Loid who just had a meltdown like a month ago in-universe over being compromised for his fake wife. Finding out she has feelings for him too and is no longer willing to just play business partners can only go well.
>She spills the beans by starting from the beginning, and this is how her childhood flashback starts.Garden is finally out of the bag, which was the biggest impediment against telling her backstory imo. I think we're finally at the point where it could happen at any time, but I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if it was now.
>>279884900Another "failed" relationship to add to the list.
Only being honest and real will get you happiness like the Authens have, and what Forgers will eventually have.
>>279884515Incel rage activated.
>>279885747But enough about Hemlock.
>>279886401Maybe she got recruited after getting drunk and killing a man
>>279886685That's news to me. The closest I can think of is him saying Yor and Twilight learning each other's identities would mean the series is ending soon.
>>279886829I didn't get that impression at all. McMahon is fully committed to his marriage despite the secrets, and he tells Yor she should seek the same level of commitment.
>>279886583>The last HAPPENING was Anya's mind-reading confession to Damian >It went absolutely nowhere
>>279886943She was recruited at 13 or 14. If she was drinking already, that would be extremely dark.
>>279886441>back of the neck kissesThat is how you get a broken pelvis.
>>279887052We can't say that yet. Think of how long it took Damian's "I owe Anya for the handkerchief" plot to play out.
>>2798859450%
She's gonna chicken out or they'll get interrupted by Anya
>>279887179>The next Desmond family dinner>Sitting in silence as usual>Damian thinks back to the confession>Donovan visibly reacts
>>279887032Failed in the sense that while he made it work it's not as good as it could be due to a lack of trust. They are happy enough but treading carefully so to speak.
Maybe she would actually stay, but it's presented as the best kind of marriage an assassin can get is still not the ideal and Yor is aiming for more than what McMahon has.
>>279884730>Hemlock realizing he comes from a line of sex havers
It bothers me that McMahon doesn't have a codename. I realize Axeman said that he didn't know he'd end up becoming an important character, but it's not like it's hard to retroactively give him one. It seems very intentional at this point.
>>279885321Either:
She ends it cause she doesn't want Anya and Loid to get hurt
She asks him to get married for real (lol not happening)
She alludes to having a secret identity to gauge Loid's reaction, but that will only create misunderstandings
>>279884637>>279884730>Hemlock goes to the mountains>no vacancy sign
>loid opens the door
>yor sees him and falls to her knees instinctively
If next chapter is a copout gag I hope it's that one
>>279884655>If there isn't shitposting 24/7 it's a dead thread
>>279885183Maybe it will be something like this:
> "Loid I can't do this anymore"> But that will compromise the mission> Quick-thinking spy skills engage> Kiss + romantic sounding things> "It this what welcome home kisses are like?" kyaaStatus quo restored
>>279887506>She alludes to having a secret identity to gauge Loid's reaction, but that will only create misunderstandingsI'm wondering how this might play out because Loid still hasn't given any indication as to what he's doing differently after his mission with Wheeler, if he's even changed anything at all. Feels like it might as well not have happened if it doesn't matter here.
>>279887703>> Kiss>Status quoHaha no.
>>279885183>>279885321if axeman isn't a complete hack:
>loid actually lives up to his reputation and instantly recognizes that Yor is upset and might back out of their deal and wreck his mission>uses his Twilight charm to actually seduce her>drama is him realizing that he's not just doing it for the mission and realizing he's emotionally compromise
>>279885101>actually he's writing a mission reportactual kino would be axeman not being a bum who draws out this drama for months but he just has Yor walk in without waiting, realize he's a spy because he can't put his report away in time, and she confesses her own job
>>279887820>drama is him realizing that he's not just doing it for the mission and realizing he's emotionally compromiseI could see something like this happening when he realizes how banged up Yor is. The slit throat seems designed to be seen and this chapter even took a second to emphasize that her arm is really bothering her. Let Loid realize that he's upset that his fake wife is hurt, Axeman. God, imagine that he actually sees how bad it is.
>>279887913>Yor walks in on Loid furtively hiding somethingAh yes, it's going to be that type of chapter.
>My husband is so unsatisfied he has resorted to erotic literature
>>279887913>>279888155She already knocked and called out to him. If he still fails to put his report away before opening the door, I think his qualifications are overstated.
>>279887913>he just has Yor walk in without waitingYor isn't that rude. But she might be the one in trouble if he sees her neck and arm.
>>279887820>Initiate Operation Honeytrap: Phase 2>WAIT, SHIT, THIS ISNโT FOR THE MISSION AT ALL, IโM ACTUALLY COMPROMISED AS FUCK. ABORT ABORT!
>>279887820>>279888573Yor is more than powerful enough to get what she wants. Loid is doomed!
>Hello loid...
>I think i want a baby...
>>279887349Yuri's chapter definitely feels like more of a lead-in to this arc considering how he felt the distance grow between him and Yor after he got his secret job. And since he reminisced about Nielsberg in that chapter too I'm starting to think that there's a 50/50 chance of Yor actually opening up to Loid about her past to an extent.
Man I really like Hemlock, he cracks me up and he's a little relatable
I think Yor should hug her husband.
Without breaking his ribs.
>>279888624Unfortunately he's infertile, Franky-sama will have to give her one!
>>279888354I think what I really want is for Yor to make up some excuse for something and for Loid to admit to himself that he knows she's lying.
>>279888155>erotic literatureThat's pretty gay tbqh
>>279888626>there's a 50/50 chance of Yor actually opening up to Loid about her past to an extent. How would you feel about Yor's backstory being told in short flashes rather than all at once like Loid's? Like she's blocking it out.
>>279888354Imagine he notices her wounds, and she notices his mission report, but neither notices the other saw anything. Itโs not enough for either to come to any conclusions but they both begin to suspect things, and distrust each other.
>>279885183Mmmm, I'm not convinced. This manga always pussies out. Yor will think about confessing, Anya will read her mind, freak out and interrupt because she'll be worried about it breaking up the family.
Or Loid will say something that will make it harder for her to admit.
>>279885492Next chapter she is going to decide to make her marriage real, then 50 more chapters until they hold hands

>>279888995Loid's flashback was also told in parts and had details blocked out.
But no. I feel like we've gotten enough small flashes from Yuri, so it's better to hear it all from Yor herself. We've almost never get her POV and it was always hinted to look different from her caretaker perspective.
>>279887052I don't think it was supposed to. It was more about Anya trusting Damian enough to tell him rather than him believing her. Plus, it would cause drama I'm really not in the mood for right now, because you know it will cause him to avoid her for several chapters.
>>279889247This autist was irritating for the first half, but I'm glad it found its rhythm in the second.
>>279885492YOR RAPES TWILIGHT. YOR HAS HIS BABY. OUR MARIAGE IS REAL NOW, MY DARLING.

>>279887179I have dementia. What happened?
So either Yor attempts to cancel the marriage next chapter or she kisses him right?
>>279883996>>279883996>Pretty large amount of poachers (at least 30 counting the dudes from last chapter)>>279884003, all have assault rifles or machine guns, and they have a radio network
Is Westalis military intelligence funding and arming these guys or something?
>>279890051I can see either she starts with some kind of ultimatum, or she vents before deciding to play that card. Loid's response will determine if she gets the light in her eyes back.
>Loid, I have been lying to you
>i was never actually a blacksmith's apprentice
>>279883947Looks like a volume starter
>>279890283Shopkeeper said they're working with Westalis so maybe. I was surprised the border patrol never showed up. Though depending on next chapter, this subplot seems like it might end up being left open. Bizarre, but maybe Axeman wants to have something less morally ambiguous he can have Garden go work on occasionally to let him build up the characters without having to wrestle with the implications of their more typical work. Dude's gotta get over that.
>>279885503Odd, she had it when she arrived home.
>>279885503It went missing so we'll be waiting for it to drop in the next chapter
>>279890007A bunch of Damian x Anya stuff that sorta solidified them as friends, and also he got her a cake (or rather his mom did).
>>279890283It's noted the machine guns are older models. Nothing unusual about criminals ending up with extra stocks of weapons after a huge war.
>>279890860He said there is a possibility border guards may intervene on behalf of the poachers, but he didn't seem certain of it at all.
>>279885503She was so distracted by wanting to talk to Loid that she forgot to take off her other shoe?
>>279885321nothing ever happens
>>279892416Until it does.
>>279884708is that a big deal? I usually see them even in small organisations in manga. It's usually just a handful of guys.
Whatever happens next depends if axeman was on his meds or not. I for one don't believe his lies still. Ain't shit gonna happen but the reassurance shit Loid been doing since that start of the manga whenever Yor is down. I will be genuinely surprise if anything thing intimate happens or even a real heart to heart talk. Endo is just not guy when it comes to the main adult characters.
I've forgotten the series lore quite a bit, but are Yor and Loid on opposing factions? I only remember Yor's brother is
>>279893081Kind of. They aren't as directly opposed as WISE and the SSS, but they wouldn't be friendly to each other. Garden isn't after Twilight right now, but that's probably only a matter of time.
>>279893081Garden is pretty independent of the Ostanian government, and operates under its own principles. They actively reject aligning with any specific political ideology, but we don't know just how they view Westalis.
>>279892678Doomerism is fun occasionally, but realistically, something major does eventually have to happen. The manga can't go on forever and the adults getting together for real is one of the core tenets of the central plot. A cheek kiss or something of the sort isn't going to have them betraying their organizations for each other next week. The bigger fear should be that it happens and then Axeman doesn't acknowledge it for 50 chapters.
>or even a real heart to heart talk. These happen every Loid arc. I don't know why you're acting like they're rare.
>>279893445Shopkeeper doesn't seem to like the west. It may be distrust more than outright hostility, though. Not sure if that makes a difference.
>>279893545It's pretty ambiguous. What we know for sure is that Shopkeeper does not want active conflict with Westalis to start up again, and that he is thus opposed to pro-war advocates. That doesn't necessarily mean he views Westalis in a favorable way of course.
>>279893450Show me where theses heart to heart doesn't end with gags or a joke ruining it? On top of it, shit barely changes after the fact...
>>279892678>Ain't shit gonna happen but the reassurance shit Loid been doing since that start of the manga whenever Yor is down.Every time he's done that it's been reaffirming her role as a mother and a wife. I'm half hoping this time she'll be looking for something more from him than that. Not even a confession, just that HE wants to stay with HER, like she does to him (
>>279884977), so she can justify committing like McMahon says.
>>279885183>Anya is awake and right there means nothing is going to happen. Axeman, I kneel...
>>279882798 (OP)>>279885183>Forced drama bait on the last pageaxeman fuck off.
>>279893719The main development of the tennis arc was establishing that Yor had more than friendly feelings for Loid. He got thrown off the trail and she probably wasn't consciously aware of these feelings at the time, but it's not like it was possible to put that cat back in the bag afterwards. This has slowly been built on over time. Then the Wheeler arc's development was that Loid is compromised over his fake wife to the point of screwing up missions. Also not possible to put back in the bag, though it's a fair criticism to say that nothing has come of this one yet.
>On top of it, shit barely changes after the fact...The manga's pace is glacial and you have to be okay with that to read it. If you're not, it's probably not a good match for you. I do think it's been a bit better lately, but we'll see if that holds up.
>>279893719I don't see how a gag necessarily ruins such moments. Did finding out that Loid's flashback to his horrid past happened because he fainted over Anya getting a bolt ruin that development?
>>279889732Hemlock could learn a lot from Yugami...or his frisky sex having relatives (degenerates)
>>279885183I want to sniff Yor's skidmarked thong
>>279885183Given the context of McMahon's words and Yor's flashback (and her own words to wanting the same thing), I think what Yor is seeking is some way to get assurance from Loid that will give her the same hope McMahon has. Namely that while she has no intention of revealing her job to Loid, she wants to have hope that if he did find out he wouldn't leave her.
I've been waiting for the thread to slow down to post these. I did some datafaggotry.
A few threads back, an anon said chapters focusing on the kids tend to get bumps in views. I noted that this wasn't true recently, but that got me curious if it might've been in the past.
It is not and never has been true. Barring a couple exceptions of them doing better or worse, chapters focusing on Anya and the Eden cast are always on par with other chapters. That said, there is no subject in the manga that consistently draws more views than everything else. It seems like whether or not people show up depends on the direction of the manga as a whole, not the content of individual chapters.
>>279894521I also looked at anime and break impacts. Full disclosure, this was to check anon's suggestions that the bus arc's poor reception was due to these factors. The anime boost was over before the arc started and there was no in-arc fall off from breaks so no direct support for either.
For the record, the bus arc did not just break the plateau. It created the most dramatic two chapter drop-off in the manga's history. (Not counting anime bumps, the first three chapters, and isolated spikes.) Assuming the graph is to scale, this means a loss of between ~687,500 (starting from the plateau) or 12% and ~968,750 (starting from arc peak) or 17% of its views.
It's not as simple as people just hating the kids as Damianya is still very well-liked today, but I think we need to stop the revisionism on this arc being well-received.
>>279894521>>279894559This one's just a bonus. Unlike views, comment rate is very content-specific. I updated the numbers this morning, but consider recent chapters to still be lowballs. 117 is still getting 10+ comments a day, 116 is getting 2-3, 114 is getting 1-2, and 115 and 113 get one every few days. Chapters prior to that seem mostly done.
- Shipping is the biggest driver for engagement. Both LoidYor and Damianya are extremely popular.
- Chapters focusing on the primary adults without significant LoidYor are next, then family chapters without significant LoidYor, then school chapters that do not have significant Damianya, then chapters that focus on secondary characters.
- The character that generates the highest rate of engagement is Yor. It's not even close.
- 103 is still getting multiple comments every day with no sign of slowing down. It got 669 comments the day it was released. It has accrued an additional 1074 since then. This has been going on for almost a year. It is the only chapter like this.
>>279894521Thanks for your interesting datafagging anon. I think Endo is extremely good at making the story feel organic, big chapters don't hit that hard, but the story flow is always strong
>>279893081>>279893445we got the lore drop that they are a holdover group that served the royal family and now works for the country independently from the government.
If axeman is based the endgame will be Twilight and Garden working together to overthrow the commie government and restoring the royal family, with Anya probably being the last remaining member based on her flashback
>>279886583nothing ever happens
>>279885183Yor will burst into Loid's room and demand a kiss only to get embarrassed, drink heavily after dinner and then kiss him anyway. I know your games Axeman.
>>279895076Liquid courage aint just for men
>>279885183>Yor enters room >sees Loid passed out from exhaustion sleeping on his bed>gently kisses his forehead and leaves >Loid wakes up one second later wondering what just happened The status quo marches on
>>279894029>The manga's pace is glacialOnly if you're reading it as it comes out. I only bit the bullet to read what has been published to date two months ago as I'd heard the criticism of the pacing for years and wanted to avoid another situation where an ongoing manga disappoints but I did not find the pacing an issue while reading those ~109 chapters.
>>279894595I wonder if you checked Frieren chapters you'd spot ubel.
>>279895314Binge reading is the way. Plus most people tend to do the same mistake with SxF that they did with Bisque: the story is first and foremost a gag sol, the plot and romance are secondary
>>279894521>>279894559That's great anon, but if Twilight's mission that almost got him killed didn't increase readers, I don't think the kids are the problem, it just looks to me like people got into the series expecting it to take a certain direction and fucked off when they weren't getting what they wanted.
I want Loid and Yor to have babies damn it
>>279895529I don't think the kids were the problem either. I even said as much. However, those weren't people that just got into the series. Reader numbers had been mostly stable since the cruise arc. It wasn't gaining views (outside of the anime boost, 100% of which fell off by 67.2), but it wasn't losing them either. Then the bus arc happened and suddenly ~15% of readers said yeah fuck this.
>it just looks to me like people got into the series expecting it to take a certain direction and fucked off when they weren't getting what they wanted.I don't think it was the series taking a direction they didn't like. I think it was that arc. There aren't giant drop-offs after school chapters or really any chapters normally. Prior to the cruise arc, there was a gradual decline, but it was very small. People that stuck with it up until this point were okay with basically everything. Until this.
>>279894595103? Really?
It's a great chapter but people love the seal, the nature, and light couple teasing that much?
>>279885183I am sick of getting my hopes up only to get a nothing burger gag scene then back to status quo.
I must not hope- I must not get hyped. This is a SoL manga. This is a SoL manga. Spy x Family is a SoL manga. I'm reading a SoL manga and I'm gonna like it.
>>279896448NTA but that was easily my favorite chapter released last year. Straight-forward family chapter with no cheap gag storylines derailing it. It was just them all being together and enjoying their time. He didn't even ruin Loid and Yor's close moment with an ill placed joke like he always tends to do.
Those are rare now, and I think the last time we had one like that was the cruise arc ending chapter. I think Axeman underestimates just how far their dynamic can carry this manga.
Yor will ask for a divorce to keep them safe, but will not explain herself. This will destroy spy boy's mind.
>>279896695Doesn't make sense for her, she won her fight with Hemlock because she fights to protect them. She's the opposite of Loid.
>>279896680desu the ending of the cruise arc is my favorite chapter of the manga and it pains me that family ootings just disappeared from this manga for years in favor low effort eden rehashes. Grouping up all 3 (or 4 counting Bond) main characters should not be as rare as it is.
>>279896695Loid will restore the shine in Yor's cold robot eyes.
2 more weeks trust the plan
>>279896448>>279896680I am that anon. Originally I had labeled that chapter Family because it's the most archetypal example of a family chapter ever, but the comments are overwhelmingly LoidYor-centric. I don't really get it either.
>mfw I enjoy family ootings and school chapters
>>279896998>but the comments are overwhelmingly LoidYor-centricWell that chapter did show how their relationship has changed over these few months living together.
Its got Loid immediately changing his mind just because of Yor's positive outlook about the news.
Yor teasing him about his wrinkles and mannerisms is a massive step compared to the Yor that is walking around eggshells around him.
And she forced him to sit and relax for once.
It's a nice family chapter, a shipping chapter, and also has more hints about project apple. Pretty easy homerun imo.
If Malinda wasn't so paranoid about pissing off her hubby by spending time with Damian we would have had a family ooting combined with a play date by now.
I bet Donovan doesn't actually give a shit if she talks to her kids or not.
On another note, think the "Hemlock is subconsciously in love with Yor" theory will die after this chapter?
I do love that despite that his involvement for now does end like Nightfall's did, running off into the wilderness.
>>279897224Don't call her a brat, Loid.
>>279897367I'm still curious if we'll ever get an explanation for her most extreme hateful thoughts, like wishing Damian had been murdered. It really doesn't mesh with the later reveals that her issue is she is scared of Donovan and keeping her distance from her kids due to fear.
>>279885183If this doesn't happen we riot
>>279897435I saw it as her thinking conflicting things so that her mind cannot be read properly. Since she's under the assumption that she's always being monitored.
Either she's actually schizo as a result of trying to avoid being mindread, or she's simply pretending to avoid being mindread.
I think the former is more interesting that the latter.
>>279897382It's been dying off with each chapter, but given how he obsesses over Yor's lovey-dovey marriage after the fact, Axeman could always turn it into him being in complete denial later. Hemlock never goes after McMahon's marriage the same way.
>>279897484I'll settle for Loid easing her worries so much that she goes for that cheek kiss as a thank you.
I know I'm expecting too much, but I've always wanted Yor to confess her secret job first just so that Twilight becomes further compromised over what to do.
There's a lot of potential drama that Axeman would be throwing away if he waits until the end for a mutual reveal. No guilt over continuing to lie to someone that completely trusts him, no dilemma over immediately leaving or not, no keeping secrets from WISE, no thoughts about what the real Redacted wants.
>>279897565I could see it being something he just never realized rather than outright denial. I like Hemlock so I hope Axeman uses him a lot in the future. Gympie and Thistle too. Let them and Yor go on missions and also add them to Anya's babysitter rotation. Maybe not Gympie. Guess it depends how old she is.
Who will be the lucky girl that marries Hemlock?
>>279898495Hemlock will cut his hair, look like Loid and Fiona will want to bang because her fixation has only ever been shallow
>>279899069Nah, Hemlock should keep it, after all, long hair was usually reserved for nobles anyway
>>279894595The comments on 114 are interesting to me. At first they were complaining about Yuri being too childish and having to let go to grow up but after the initial wave passed, it actually steadily gained momentum as a chapter fans kept rereading because it shows Yor's love for her family and the hope that Yuri can be honest and accept the Forgers someday as well. Initial impressions are the most honest, but it's funny what the prevailing opinion of some chapters ends up being.
I do wonder why he keeps side-tracking to the side characters though. Aside from the filial comments of diehard fans who will praise him no matter what, it seems like the smartest thing he could do is to keep the focus around the Forgers. Yet those chapters are the hardest to come by anymore.

I really like that Keekee has been trained to hold weapons while Mcmahon works.
Don't need to worry about them hitting the ground when you've got someone to keep them afloat.
>>279899338but she can't turn things to leaves
>>279899227It's pretty obvious that he doesn't care about the Forgers that much
>>279899227Axeman just wants to drag out this series as long as possible.
It's just that he's capable of writing good side characters so it doesn't feel too wasteful.
But I do agree that he's become really slow with the Forger's development.
I think he's trying squeeze out as many chapters as possible before the editor tells him to get a fucking move on
>>279899632That must be why Axeman's favorite chapters and scenes are all about the Forgers.
>>279898495Unironically I think he and Fiona are on the same crazy wavelength. She's a love freak who believes love conquers all, and he's an autist who believes that solitude is the path to strength. But Franky is seen as the most likely endgame for Fiona, and it seems like Hemlock is relatively unpopular from his actions here.
>>279885183>>279885321She's gonna express her fear that she's hurting loyd and anya by acting the good wife and mother when she's not, and loyd should find a real wife and mother to anya.
Loyd will realize the mistake is because yor doesn't realize anya isn't really his kid.
This might lead to loyd doing one of two things. Either A) he suggest they explore their romantic compatibility, for real (lying to her to keep her in the family and keep the mission on point) or B) reveal that he's not really Anya's father (lying by saying his deceased wife was pregnant when they met) and that Yor is as much her parent as he is.
Option c is a long shot, but it could be yor comes in, and tells Loyd she wants to try and make it a real marriage, and asks to go on dates.
>>279900162I get that logic, but to me, fiona hooking up with yuri makes more sense than franky.
Franky's gonna get with some random hot damsel at the end of the series
>>279900561Yuri has Chloe now
>>279900631Oh right, i forgot about her
>>279899781Wtf based Axeman!
>>279899227>I do wonder why he keeps side-tracking to the side characters though. It might not be entirely intentional. From what I understand, the Martha arc was an accident. Following that up with another story arc with a secondary character at the heart of it (Melinda) maybe wasn't the wisest, but that feels like it was discussion bait more than anything.
The nice thing about the current arc is that it's developing a new side character in service of developing one of the main characters. The term finals also did that with Anya and the Authens. That's effective use of side characters. I'd prefer he develop the Forgers through the other Forgers to kill two birds with one stone, but if he insists on side characters, this works.
>>279885183Bros... I'm scared...
>>279900904Yeah, it sounds like he basically got super inspired and just kept expanding the Martha flashback, resulting in a much longer time away from the Forgers than intended.
>>279885183Personally I don't really mind what happens next chapter, just that something actually happens. Nothing I despise more than bait and switch cliffhangers.
It can be Yor and Loid progressing their romance, one of them starting to get proper suspicions of the other's job, Loid going full spy mode and turning up the seduction for the sake of operation Styx (and definitely not because he's compromised), just don't make it a one-off gag followed by an unrelated rest of the chapter please.
>>279899771I find most of the side characters weak honestly. Yuri and Damian seem to get the most attention, but like the less central side characters they're also shackled to a single gag that Axeman leans on when he's afraid to make a real change. Ironically the supporting cast that gets the least spotlight seems to escape getting simplified, like Melinda or Sylvia.
>>279901052It's the editor's job to cut it off and wrangle it when it does get out of hand. Axeman probably convinced Lin that it related back to the main story, but the connection is tenuous and the theme redundant.
>>279894521>>279894559Based datafag. Though it's a shame we don't have the "1 week views" or similar since I wonder how much the trends are washed out by the fact that older chapters will accumulate more views over time.
>>279900514I donโt know why you see option C as a long shot. I think itโs by far the most likely scenario.
>Yor confesses her love for Loid, asks to do cutesy couple shit>Loid is taken aback because heโs been suppressing his feelings for her this whole time >Yor confessing her love for him breaks everything wide open, he is unable to continue suppressing his feelings or lying to himself or others >Yor is ecstatic now that she feels she has one less thing to hide/lie about, but Loid takes more time to open up Make. It. Happen. Axeman.
>>279901440>but like the less central side characters they're also shackled to a single gag that Axeman leans on when he's afraid to make a real changeThe last time we saw Damian he had to accept that he was jealous and seemed to be trying to have a normal conversation with Anya before Henderson interrupted, so hopefully the next time he appears he's ready to move past the whole UGGO STUBBY LEGS thing.
>>279896180I want to see JC Anya getting up to shenanigans with her suave, superstrength (for a 8-year-old) otouto.
>>279901623they're so cute, I don't know why shipping this 30 year old couple is so cute.
>>279901739She's 27 you cheeky git.
>>279901739Because the idea of two autists finally finding someone who will truly understand them as Yor likes to put it, makes it easy to root for them.
>>279900904>another story arc with a secondary character at the heart of it (Melinda) maybe wasn't the wisest, but that feels like it was discussion bait more than anythingIt does seem like that's what it was in hindsight. Loid doesn't seem like he's going to entertain it after that first session, and while Anya is aware, she's not capable or even motivated to find out more information.
Hemlock here is a lot like Fiona in the tennis arc, and that's probably the best use for them both. Characters with narrow gimmicks can't hold a storyline on their own but they're good tools to advance the main story and characters where they need to go.
>>279885183No chance this leads to anything, as usual it'll lead back to the status quo. Either they'll get interrupted and/or Lloyd will unintentionally say something that quashes her fears for the time being and they'll be back to the regular pattern.
>>279901760Maybe 28 by now, it has been six months. Do we know anyone's birthdays?
>>279901648I did like that he truncated his normal response and accepted Anya's compliment for what it was, so I'm hoping that the next time they appear together they make it through their literature class civilly from start to finish. The false starts, not just for them but for all the characters, are getting too frustrating, and I think Axeman or Lin are finally detecting that in the readership now.
>>279901804>she's not capable or even motivated to find out more information. She seemed pretty motivated last time we saw her in a situation where she could try to learn something, didn't she?
Course the only person she has access to that might know something useful is Demetrius.

I'm sure this one will fund the next movie.
>>279882798 (OP)Is this manga still good?
>>279890860He started to touch on it with McMahon discussing it. Garden doesn't have compunctions about the nature of their work, it's the outside perception of it that prevents them from telling anyone. Even Hemlock took pride in what they did, he just forces himself to look down on everyone else as a result of the job's natural isolation.
>>279902621If you considered it good when you last read it then why did you stop reading it?
>>279902621yes, its never not been good its just paced glacially.
so all this MGTOW-bashing via hemlock actually had a purpose
>>279885321It means she wants to come clean about being an assassin.
>>279903109Except she also says she is not willing to tell Loid about that. So it must be something else, though perhaps related.
>>279902698I read 5 volumes and I liked it, but then I saw people saying it lost its charm.
>>279902726Thanks
>>279903295English makes it sound more final but the original just has her plainly say "I can't talk about the truth (of my real job)." It's not a hard stance so even JP readers are wondering what she's referring to by saying "I can't bear this anymore." I don't think Axeman's going to push any major changes yet though. It's just a good place for a cliffhanger.
>>279903295I'm still betting on her being incredibly vague but still asking for them to accept her regardless of what she can't say.
>Loid I have a secret I've been keeping from you>I feel too guilty keeping it from you but I can't tell you what it is>you might not want anything to do with me anymore if I did>I don't want to be kicked out of this family>can I stay despite this?Something along those lines. Basically she's feeling very guilty about lying and just wants Redacted to tell her she's doing a good job again. Bonus points if she actually uses the word job or work.
>>279903807I could see her wording it as
>I have secret government stuff as part of my job that I cannot share with you but I want to be your real wifered faces all around
>>279890380I can also see some crazy thing about Loid saying something huge to stop the divorce. Like how he lost everything in the war and when he refound it he lost it all again. How Yor is lucky to of not of lost everything. Which Yor would think was his family and then his first wife or think it about her. Like that Loid was talking about his first wife and then herself but Yor was about to rob that from him.
Most likely it will be something to do with Anya to stop her. I doubt Loid would bring up even a hint of his past that wouldn't give away enough info, even if it to stop her from divorce. It likely just going to be something to do with Anya that he would use to stop Yor from leaving.
It funny how the cold blooded Assassin and the orphan girl had more then Loid who lost even his real name and can't remember it. Which Is really good foreshadowing that Loid's real name is 100% going to be use at some point. Either to stop him or that Anya really can read minds, even stuff they thought they forget. Or a big reveal with the father still being alive and calling Loid his real name.
>>279897435There could always be the twist that Donovan or his other son is the big bad. The mother does have a split personally and that the big bad. If Donovan does know about this other personally, all his action as crazy as it seen, is him trying to stop this other personally from showing up. Donovan himself, thinking too much about him and him being around her too much. Start making this second deadly personally from coming to the surface more.
Donovan love her so dearly that even if this second personally is super dangerous and would get her kill by the SSS because this second personally is an enemy to the country and backstabber.

>>279907302I mean his incel rhetoric coming crashing down after a chapter and his cute blank face this chapter was funny.
also the fact he is convinced that Yor and Loid kiss 24/7 is funny.
>>279906942It doesn't feel like anything is different. Anya and Damian's families are meeting more, so Melinda likes Yor enough to seek therapy and confide in Loid about her fear of Donovan being an alien. But it doesn't feel like anything has shifted significantly between the characters.
>>279907168This is true.
>>279885183I mean, there WERE plot development in the series (Loid meeting Donovan, Anya getting stella stars, Donovan revealed to be telepathic).
They were just slow as fuck.
Maybe axeman noticed that there are spikes when he makes progress, so he decides some kind of actual development again.
That being said it's not clear for me, what does Yor want now (relationship upgrades or confessing that she has secret job, or divorce?).
>>279907345Hemlock is a volcel like Loid. He's just too retarded to realize that he doesn't have to be one if he doesn't want to in order to be strong.

This discussion between Yor and McMahon is very strange.
>why are you still with your wife?
>idk
Based on them having a seemingly normal marriage pre-Garden and him hoping she'd stay with him if she knew, it seems like the answer should be that he loves her. But he won't say that. Even when he can admit that he irrationally wants to stay with her even though he has to lie to her for the rest of his life.
Is it because Yor sees too much of herself in the situation and Axeman doesn't want to lead her by the nose like that?

>>279911209That's unusual if that's all it is. The marriages in this series usually seem much more western in their portrayal.
>>279912314Always nice when a new chapter inspires fan art like this.
>>279911679>>279911946I'm hoping that if we do get a kiss next chapter, it will be very sudden at the end and Yor runs afterwards. I don't want them to talk about it. I want it to just hang. I know Loid will make some wrong assumption anyway, but I don't want her to help with with it.

>>279914298Would Loid actually care if he found out Yor was an assassin?
>>279914793Only in so much as it would endanger his cover. If anything he might be hyped because now he can also start expanding the scope of his mission and start spying on The Garden.

>>279914933this, he'd be pissed at himself being so sloppy. But would would be happy for the chance to use her to get intel on the Garden
>>279907798It's intentionally vague. There were a lot of flashes to the cruise arc in the past few chapters, which was also about hiding her other job. It fits with her wanting to talk about something that she can't bear anymore, but that would be a huge turn for the story to take.
I can see Axeman inserting Anya to prevent anything from happening either.
>>279915916pretty sure she is barren

Shut the fuck up
>>279916769If this were real life, sure, but we haven't been given any reason not to suspend disbelief for that here. It's in the same camp as the fact that Shopkeeper should've demanded a hysterectomy in exchange for her marrying so he wouldn't lose her to pregnancy. It's reasonable, but there's no way Axeman will ever actually make it a thing. It'd be way too sad.
This manga will end with everyone married with kids. EVERYONE.
>>279917340Yes, everyone with Loid
>>279885183I swear to fucking god if it's going to be yet another bait with a shitty gag...

>>279918606>thinks this fakeout is leading to anything substantial at all
>>279918886>Everything that happens is related to the possibility of another war or Donovan. That's the framing of the plot, not the plot itself. It has always been about Loid's compromise for his family and their developing relationships with each other. The goal of the manga isn't to watch the Forgers save the day, it's to have them grow to love each other for real.
>>279919016Yes, grow to love each other and save the day. You think they're just going to run off and leave everyone to die?
>>279918886>The plot never stopped moving. While this is true,
>Everything that happens is related to the possibility of another war or Donovan. Anyone who insists otherwise isn't a real fan.this is ironic considering the main plot is the family and anyone that's been following the series for a while should be aware of that. It's a character-driven narrative, which is one of the reasons why Axeman keeping the main characters apart so much these days is so frustrating.
I bet Donovan isn't evil at all. He's hiding from the real villain.
>>279918606>he actually thinks something will happen next chapter
>>279919168>and leave everyone to dieWhy do you think one of the common sentiments for the ending is "the Forgers leave to a third country to live peacefully/lie low/quit"? The non-negotiable part of the ending is them staying together, and stopping Donovan is the path to that.
Can we please not argue over what the damn story is about?
It's about family, it's about preventing war, it's about friendships and dogs and experiencing the happy lives the kids can live thanks to the efforts of the adults. It's about peanuts and maybe aliens probably.
>>279919407Donovan did nothing wrong.
>>279919168Honestly? I feel like the Forgers choosing each other over their jobs/countries and running away at the end is one of the most likely outcomes. WISE and Garden are never going to let Loid and Yor leave, and their governments aren't going to allow a telepath to just go free and potentially be used against them. SxF is a lighthearted story with dark undertones that strives to be realistic about the horrors of war. An ending where war is eliminated forever and everyone gets to just live happily ever after doesn't seem realistic for it. You should probably expect something at least a little bittersweet.
I think one of the best case scenarios is that they leave, Loid and Yor possibly forever, though Anya gets to reunite with her friends someday. Maybe in college or something.
>>279919548The story has consistently had a theme of Yor and Twilight valuing their dedication to their work and greatly respecting that quality in others (heck we get Yor flashing back to that again in this chapter). Even if they somehow left their specific organizations, I can't see either of them just going into hiding to live regular civilian lives.
>>279920212They would for Anya.
>>279920359I don't think Anya would want that either though, she adores their adventurous lives.
>>279920633I don't think it matters what Anya wants if her life is in danger. They would do anything to keep her safe. Plus, you really think she'd be upset about going on a globetrotting adventure and living under new identities in a third country? It'd be something straight out of Bondman. She'd be all over it.
>>279919473>maybe aliens probablyI'm still so divided on the stupid alien thing. I think the thing that gets me is that Axeman doesn't hesitate to make fun of his characters and this is such an easy thing to make fun of her for. But he really doesn't. Outside of one, maybe two panels, the chapter treats the whole thing pretty seriously.
>>279920855Going on the run could endanger her life more, and I think we're assuming a bit much to think WISE would become Twilight's enemy or Garden Yor's. I'd prefer a scenario where Yor and Twilight can continue to rely on the connections and allies they've built up over much of their lives.
After all, even if Twilight and Yor find out about Anya's powers, who's to say the Ostanian or Westalis governments will find out? It could end up just being a secret kept between a small group.
Though I suppose another possibility is Anya losing her powers at the end of the series.
>>279920212I always got the impression that it's not the work they're dedicated to but the reasoning for doing it. Loid seems to more or less hate his job but sucks it up to create the kind of world he would've wanted as a child. And even back in the second chapter he tells Yor that whatever dirty jobs she had to do to provide for her brother, she should take pride in that because it showed just how dedicated she was to provide for her brother.
McMahon himself even touches on that here: the work itself is dirty, but he takes pride in doing so for his country's sake. The dedication itself is what's valued over the job. I think they could choose to do anything else in the ending as long as they keep that towards each other.
>>279921517You seem to be expecting a much cozier, happier ending than most of us think is possible considering the many time bombs that currently exist. And that's fine. Not like any of us know for sure what's going to happen. I'm just not as optimistic as you are.
>I think we're assuming a bit much to think WISE would become Twilight's enemy or Garden Yor'sYou don't just need WISE to be okay with Loid and Garden to be okay with Yor. You also need them to be okay with each other. I don't know how WISE is going to feel about Yor. They seem to sort of trust Loid's judgement, but not entirely. Recall that they didn't tell him Anya was in danger until it was too late to do anything. If Loid asks to bring a bull into their china shop, will they trust his judgement that she isn't going to kill them all? And even if they can, can they trust her judgement that her coworkers won't? I think that could go either way.
I have no faith in Garden being okay with Loid, though. Shopkeeper doesn't respect Yor anywhere near enough to allow her to vouch for him. The only way to win there is for Yor to win over enough of her cohorts to kill Shopkeeper and put McMahon in charge. McMahon would trust her.
Where's my damn karaoke album, huh? Where's my damn album full of songs sung by the characters, huh? I want a heartfelt song by Yor. Some jazz from Loid. A song about peanuts from Anya. Becky singing about her love for Loid.
>>279923345>I want a heartfelt song by Yor.This one does exist.

>>279923345Those hit peak popularity about 10-20 years ago. Nowadays the series that get regular character song albums are the music-focused or long-established franchises. At least SxF has a musical that you can check out.
>>279901667Imagine if he becomes a siscon just like uncle Yuri, and Anya can read his thoughts.

>>279927765That's Hemlock who is a man and also works for Garden. Yor defeated him because she makes out with her husband constantly.
>>279927765Hemlock is a guy. He's a Garden operative that's obsessed with Yor and stoicism. There is a new girl, Gympie, but she's presumably a teenager. A third Garden operative, Thistle, was also teased, but we don't know if they're male or female yet. They've yet to show up.
>>279927765Thatโs a dude with long hair, and his name is Hemlock. Heโs an assassin/incel who hates Yor because he believes being completely and totally isolated from all human contact has made him stronger than her, and Yor having a family has not only dulled her edge but is also having a corruptive influence on the rest of Garden since itโs giving other assassins similar ideas about having romantic relationships.
Hemlock tells Yor heโs going to kill Loid, Anya and Yuri to โfree her from their bondsโ, Yor goes berserk, kicks his ass and he has an existential crisis when he loses despite his self-isolation, which was supposed to make him a hyper-effective killing machine.

>>279885321Nothing, even if this becomes an arc the payout will be nothing changing significantly
Imagine if Axeman pulls a fast one and it turns out that Loid isn't in his room because he stepped out for some emergency WISE call or something.
Yor probably wouldn't get angry at him for leaving Anya alone considering she walks home from school all the time, but it could go there since she's not in the right mindset right now.
Are you guys really going to fall into this trap again? nothing happens in this series of people lying to each other, it's like plankton getting the krabby patty secret formula, timmy;s; faires getting revealed to normies, danny getting outed as the ghost kid, Phises, ferb getting busted and perry being outed as a secret agent, shit just doesn't happen even less so in japanese properties they're going to continue lying to each other, they're going to continue endlessly spinning their wheels just likedarling will never actually choose one of htose monster girls to make his wife, just like Conan will never get his life back from the black organization, just like Ippo will never un retire, just like Hunter x Hunter will never end and just like Guts will never defeat Griffif just like Dragonball will never have a asolid ending after end of Z
