Axeman has made a big deal about how she had no life pre-Forgers, never left her apartment outside work, no hobbies, etc. Despite this, she came to the family with already something of a drinking problem. It's always been played off as a gag, but it was one of the few things about her that wasn't completely robotic. I guess I could just see Axeman recontextualizing it someday.

Axeman doesn't have it in him to reveal anything concrete to Loid regarding their secret identities or to allow an unambiguous romantic development, but he will allow them to share personal details with each other. Yor is also the most forthcoming, so even if she just says she found a job to provide for Yuri, she's still likely to add more details leading up to that.

The main development of the tennis arc was establishing that Yor had more than friendly feelings for Loid. He got thrown off the trail and she probably wasn't consciously aware of these feelings at the time, but it's not like it was possible to put that cat back in the bag afterwards. This has slowly been built on over time. Then the Wheeler arc's development was that Loid is compromised over his fake wife to the point of screwing up missions. Also not possible to put back in the bag, though it's a fair criticism to say that nothing has come of this one yet.

Given the context of McMahon's words and Yor's flashback (and her own words to wanting the same thing), I think what Yor is seeking is some way to get assurance from Loid that will give her the same hope McMahon has. Namely that while she has no intention of revealing her job to Loid, she wants to have hope that if he did find out he wouldn't leave her.

I've been waiting for the thread to slow down to post these. I did some datafaggotry.
A few threads back, an anon said chapters focusing on the kids tend to get bumps in views. I noted that this wasn't true recently, but that got me curious if it might've been in the past.
It is not and never has been true. Barring a couple exceptions of them doing better or worse, chapters focusing on Anya and the Eden cast are always on par with other chapters. That said, there is no subject in the manga that consistently draws more views than everything else. It seems like whether or not people show up depends on the direction of the manga as a whole, not the content of individual chapters.

(Not counting anime bumps, the first three chapters, and isolated spikes.) Assuming the graph is to scale, this means a loss of between ~687,500 (starting from the plateau) or 12% and ~968,750 (starting from arc peak) or 17% of its views.
It's not as simple as people just hating the kids as Damianya is still very well-liked today, but I think we need to stop the revisionism on this arc being well-received.

The comments on 114 are interesting to me. At first they were complaining about Yuri being too childish and having to let go to grow up but after the initial wave passed, it actually steadily gained momentum as a chapter fans kept rereading because it shows Yor's love for her family and the hope that Yuri can be honest and accept the Forgers someday as well. Honestly? I feel like the Forgers choosing each other over their jobs/countries and running away at the end is one of the most likely outcomes. WISE and Garden are never going to let Loid and Yor leave, and their governments aren't going to allow a telepath to just go free and potentially be used against them. SxF is a lighthearted story with dark undertones that strives to be realistic about the horrors of war. An ending where war is eliminated forever and everyone gets to just live happily ever after doesn't seem realistic for it. You should probably expect something at least a little bittersweet.
I think one of the best case scenarios is that they leave, Loid and Yor possibly forever, though Anya gets to reunite with her friends someday. Maybe in college or something.

Going on the run could endanger her life more, and I think we're assuming a bit much to think WISE would become Twilight's enemy or Garden Yor's. I'd prefer a scenario where Yor and Twilight can continue to rely on the connections and allies they've built up over much of their lives.

After all, even if Twilight and Yor find out about Anya's powers, who's to say the Ostanian or Westalis governments will find out? It could end up just being a secret kept between a small group.

I always got the impression that it's not the work they're dedicated to but the reasoning for doing it. Loid seems to more or less hate his job but sucks it up to create the kind of world he would've wanted as a child. And even back in the second chapter he tells Yor that whatever dirty jobs she had to do to provide for her brother, she should take pride in that because it showed just how dedicated she was to provide for her brother.
McMahon himself even touches on that here: the work itself is dirty, but he takes pride in doing so for his country's sake. The dedication itself is what's valued over the job. I think they could choose to do anything else in the ending as long as they keep that towards each other.

You don't just need WISE to be okay with Loid and Garden to be okay with Yor. You also need them to be okay with each other. I don't know how WISE is going to feel about Yor. They seem to sort of trust Loid's judgement, but not entirely. Recall that they didn't tell him Anya was in danger until it was too late to do anything. If Loid asks to bring a bull into their china shop, will they trust his judgement that she isn't going to kill them all? And even if they can, can they trust her judgement that her coworkers won't? I think that could go either way.
I have no faith in Garden being okay with Loid, though. Shopkeeper doesn't respect Yor anywhere near enough to allow her to vouch for him. The only way to win there is for Yor to win over enough of her cohorts to kill Shopkeeper and put McMahon in charge. McMahon would trust her.
