In no instance was Kaiji portrayed as smart. He got duped into cosigning a loan for a stupid friend and fucked up every payout he ever got out of gambling.
His technical virtues as a character were charisma, leadership, resourcefulness, grit and strength. Hell if it wasn't for his goofy eyes 'friend' he would have never figured out fatman was obviously scamming them

Kaiji is cunning, not really smart. It's in the name, "ultimate survivor". Kaiji is good at surviving, at clawing himself back from the brink of death, but that's it. Once the danger is past he gets cocky and complacent.

My arse is it, there's nothing standard about it. You have to reattach digital nerves and vessels which are miniscule and then flexor tendons which are challenging and then extensor which are easier but then rehabbing both I'd tough. Bony fixation is the easiest of the lot but still not simple. Not to mention high risk of infection and failure.
