I dropped it when the military tactics amounted to sending kids in tiny mechs across a bridge one or two at a time and dying pointlessly. The anti-climax of killing off that one chick who wanted to honor duel was also lame and not edge-kino as it wanted to be. I dont see the appeal of the show at all.

Season one was stuck in a slow episode, action episode cycle.
When it gets stupid, it really gets stupid. McGillis' buffoonish Char disguise in the first season was dumb, but not as dumb as his actions in the second season. And this happens to most characters.
