I concur. Actually I feel that quality of the series also makes fanfics for it relatively easy to write given the episodic nature. Shame there aren’t more Dirty Pair fanfics out there, though.
I’ve actually had this idea in my head for a dirty pair fanfic where Kei and Yuri are invited to a wedding by that Carson guy from the Dirty Pair movie, who is getting married to the daughter of a mafia family on a Mediterranean, Italy-inspired planet. The pair would accept, thinking “hey easy vacation” but quickly get entangled in an elaborate plot by the various mob factions on the planet, each jockeying for power after the death of the head of the biggest crime family, which subsequently collapsed. I feel like there’s a lot of comedic mileage you could get out of Kei and Yuri attending a wedding as regular guests and vacationing and trying desperately to not get mixed up in things only to get involved regardless. I could also see some gags about Kei and Yuri trying to flirt with various people at the wedding (to little avail), kei eating lots of food and Yuri getting on her case for it (only for Kei to have lost five pounds by the end of the trip and Yuri somehow gaining five), and Kei having to deal with her ex and all the awkwardness that entails plus maybe that Mafia guy Yuri almost eloped with that one time could show up for maximum comedic effect. Whaddaya guys think?
