I will not consume MTL slop and I will continue to nag translators to spoonfeed me.

AI shiteaters will happily eat shit and will never understand how much they're missing out on. Sad!

Thank you AI for further sponsoring my decadence into my mid 30s.

as long as you do it properly
the issue is that a lot of people just use cotrans and ichigoreader and similar stuff and get it all wrong
if you want to have a decent mtl, you need to use something like panel cleaner and translate the chapter in one go in chatgpt in the correct sentence order, which gives a much better result
also knowing enough hiragana and katakana to translate the sfx and translating the handwritten stuff makes a really big difference

you can learn enough japanese to start reading somewhat fluently after half a year or so if you work on it properly
getting fluent in Japanese takes about four years, but you don't need to be fluent to read manga

Eh, manga with furigana sure, but you are going to end up with new words every page and you wont even be able to sound it out though with any adult targeted manga. The difference is night and day honestly, I can read a volume with furigana in an hour but it takes like 10 hours for one without it.

It's really hard to justify learning nip nowadays if your sole reason is to consume anime and manga when AI is just around the corner. I'd much rather use that time to learn other things. Life is too fucking short, yeah that's rich coming from someone posting in an anime forum, and I like anime, manga, ln, vn etc, but If using AI could help me circumvent having to spend thousands of hours learning a niche language then I fucking will.

honestly it's the opposite, it's now it's worth learning nip. because if not you're only going to be reading AI translated works since all the translators have quit, and you're going to have a worse experience because of that

>surely some random faggot who's biggest achievement in his life so far was creating 3 threads in quick succession will spent years to learn an alien language with tens of thousands of squiggles and magically get better than a computer tech humanity spends hundreds of billions to progress
you're a fucking idiot
won't EVER happen for 99.999% faggs around here
even remaining 0.001% will wildly overstate their abilities and boast about their barely existent skill instead of reading all the manga that doesn't have english translation
you can see such faggots here regularly

If one can afford to live in Japan for a while and get fully immersed into the culture and language, it's a no brainer. Otherwise it's a mental exercise of memorisation and an uphill struggle towards a basic understanding of the language without training wheels (furigana).

You should read manga to gain fluency. It's a great learning tool that most languages lack.
