On New Year’s Eve, the Food Culture Research Club gathered to do a big clean-up of their clubroom. As they worked, they reminisced about the first time they came to this room. After setting up a kotatsu, they relaxed while sorting through photos.
Then, they began preparing food for the New Year’s celebration. The menu: toshikoshi soba and hand-rolled sushi. With their bellies full, the five of them happily welcomed the New Year together.
At Shinon’s suggestion, they decided to go for their first shrine visit of the year. They headed by car to a nearby shrine. Despite shivering in the cold, they finished their prayers, drank amazake, and gazed into the ceremonial bonfire, reflecting on the events of the past year.
