Deserved. Both Inori and Tsukasa have felt pretty flat lately, and while some spotlight on Hikaru was nice at first, it quickly became too much. Her character peaked when she cried on the train. Iruka has been a breath of fresh air since she became a prominent character.

The show's art direction is ass. Constant CGI models for the figure skating and so forth. Anyone getting into the series on /a/ from the anime will just jump to the manga instead. Only Japan will happily eat up a mediocre adaptation and lick the feet of the studio adapting it just because getting an adaptation at all is a feat for any given manga. However Medalist won multiple awards and is one of Afternoon's big sellers, the fact that the publisher/anime execs didn't shell out for the adaptation is disrespectful towards the manga and its fans. The only solace is that the author achieved her slightly creepy dream of getting her favorite VA for her favorite loli character to voice the MC tailor-made for said VA.
