I'm actually wondering if the sarcophagus even had anything besides that fang she attached into initially. It's not clear whether she wrapped around the whole skeleton in page 13, or all of that was generated tissue. Since the necromancers seem to produce larvae asexually they probably just assume the gender of the initial host, which would explain her looking like the genderbent version of the knight.

Larvae seem to be harmless to living things so unless there's a massive tomb directly beneath her room or a bunch of people drop dead from shock its pretty unlikely her wormsplosion is actually what killed everyone. I think its more likely that the lord will take this as an excuse to kill the prince and anyone loyal to him which would then lead to the lord getting taken out by the prince and the resulting necromites.

Hope Aridellia still retains her drakmetamor powers. Doesn't seem like it or she would've probably used them already.

I think the sarcophagus was empty aside from the fang that fell into it hence why Aridellia whines that she was buried without a single possession. Strange that a grave like that held no body. For deer, the local should have someone watch it as its blood is being drained. I don't know much about preservation, but I do know it should be dealt carefully and immediately if something like necromancer larva existed. Still, I think the villagers are being carried away in this chapter since necromancer don't appear often, and will start to be careful for a while after this incident. The burial of the Drakmetamor is however improperly cared for, and there should be no excuses to not cremate their remain, religious practice or not.

I've only read a bit of Bugle Call, it had some clever bits but it's not what I'd recommend to someone who doesn't want a shounen battle manga.
Drifting Dragons is the only other one that I wouldn't automatically scratch off for someone with shounen fatigue.

I can almost never get over drawing at A3 (11"x16") for something published at JP B6 (5"x7"). Nihei's art really needs bigger physical prints.

That's one of the surprises I had in this chapter. The larval Aridellia looks like a starfish or brittlestar, which find of implies that the necromites we've seen so far aren't how they reproduce.
My theory/fanwank is that the necromancers reproduce sexually (though they may be hermaphrodites): the starfish morph is actually a fertilized egg that can produce a new necromancer, while the necromite worms are the unfertilized ones that can only make zombies.

A couple of things I just noticed: on page 13 the drakmetamor is thinking that it can't find something it treasures and that it was buried without its possessions. In the first panel on page 12 you can see the shattered lid of the sarcophagus lying on the right.
So the drakmetamor was buried with grave goods and the tomb was looted afterwards, which is a common fate of grave goods. I wonder if it was the knight's family that looted it, and used to support the claim that they were descended from a dmm?

Anon the only thing it has from battle shonen is action, and the manga has an abnormal amount of downtime for a battle shonen in between the action, and the action is very unlike a normal battle shonen in that the MC is a non combatant and its up to his love interest to fight. 90% of the characters are support types and don't duke it out normally. The manga is an example of only being a shonen because of the magazine it releases in, it could have as well been a seinen. At the end of the day it doesn't matter, people put too much weight on it because they're insecure.

It's not assistants doing backgrounds for Nakaba though. In fact, he said he didn't have any until recently, so everything you see in Seven Deadly Sins was all him, alone.

I think the real issue with Nihei is that he clearly switched to digital but doesn't experiment with the tools that come with drawing digitally. He's always using the same brush, possibly even the default CSP brush, with default pen pressure settings. If he'd adjusted his pen pressure curve and picked a brush with more variance to simulate drawing on paper, his drawings would come out a lot better with minimal effort.
