These multimedia franchises are basically going to be a big part of the future of anime I think.
The amount of money involved is insane. And the budgets and talent that they'll be able to attract should reflect that.
I've heard rumors over the years that there was supposed to be a full blown Genshin anime done by ufotable. And the only reason it's never seen the light yet is that Demon Slayer became such a massive culture force that it pushed it back by years. I wonder how accurate that is. I guess we'll see since the last movies are coming out soon.

It's because I watch other series from my backlog while I also watch the seasonals, and when I then get interested in a series half-way through the season (usually through threads here), I just put them in the back-log, rather than pausing what I'm currently watching and trying to catch up and follow them seasonally.
I also have a lot I want to watch next season, so for now they are demoted to the backlog, until they become one of the backlog shows I watch alongside the seasonals.
