1) Blood. People generally don't like to talk about it or look at it.
2) It is a bodily waste. Not in a same way as shit, but still perceived in a similar way.
3) Work of internal organs. No one just sits down and casually talks about it. You might occasionally discuss small stuff like your brain being foggy or guts pulling a trick on you after 2 huge steaks, but not constantly. It's ICKY, NIGGA, ORGANS ARE INSIDE YOU.
4) Cultural taboo because of reasons mentioned above. "It is a weird topic, because it is a weird topic" might sound retarded, but that's just how half of traditions and norms roll around.
5) Half of the human population doesn't have periods. It is generally harder to relate to someone, if you have never experienced it. Not impossible, but hard. Kinda like trying to explain to your wife that boners happen automatically.
