This isn't true at all, they literally only care about Japan. Always have, likely always will because it is ingrained in their culture. The only country they may give slight mind otherwise is China, which they occasionally make stuff pandering to due to it being a huge market next door. However, an anime like Ninkoro obviously wouldn't fly in China to begin with. No Shaft anime really would for that matter. So you don't have to worry about them not making a second season due to low Chinese popularity, because Shaft is probably the single studio that cares the least about what China thinks and wants. While most anime studios only care about the Japanese audience, Shaft and this anime especially are Japan focused.

After the ending i can confidently say that Shaft made the original material worse; making more moments less brutal and cruel, unnecessary retcons and just an original anime ending, that while a good conclusion by itself, just ruins a lot of good moments for the sake of a flashy finale.

I still love shaft, this anime and how they adapted for the most part, but this last episode makes me glad there wont be more of it, as i fear the influences it could have on the author and the source.
