Didn't you guys get mad about the show after the first episode because you thought Machu & Nyaan's interactions meant it was going to be another yuri show.

I was so used to getting blueballs every time it looked like Machu was finally going to get a fight that I was kind of shocked that Shuji actually fights Machu and Nyaan in the RX-79-2. I was figuring they'd maybe clash once and then the actual climax would be all three of them helping push Lalah and the Elmeth through a zeknova portal or something.
the fight was good. pretty dang short for a final battle, but overall, this finale was less disappointing than the last few episodes have been. I'm glad Machu finally got to defeat something that wasn't a zaku even if it took until the last half of the final episode to do it.
I think I'll probably enjoy this series more on the rewatch, where I can appreciate it for what it is instead of being mad at what it isn't.

I don't get Deux's popularity. Nothing seemed interesting about her, and we've seen her character archetype dozens of times before in Gundam. This show would have been a lot better if it just stayed an alternate history. Char got the Gundam, Zeon won the war, that's it, nobody's going Beyond The Time.

Think about it, no matter what Lalah gave Char he apparently still gets his ass beat and dies to the Gundam. That doesn't make a lot of sense, especially if she can fate things to happen in other ways. GQuuuuuuX Char considered the universe to be protecting him and didn't like it, but if Lalah could do that PLUS giving him whatever MS there's no way the White Devil should win 100% of the time.
Unless it actually works in reverse. She's so scared that he's going to die that's the outcome the universe is forcing because she subconsciously can't get over it and will always assume he dies if he faces the White Devil.
Its only once she shifts the whole thing, gives Char the Gundam and so assumes he can't be killed by it that the universe then works in his favor to protect him more generally because now she thinks he's not in danger so he isn't.

No, I've watched a lot of Gundam. Wing, IBO, Witch, G Gundam, Build Fighters, and now GQX. I watched the compilation movies like 10 years ago and while I enjoyed them I didn't remember that much about the overall plot and found myself going through wikis to remember some plot points after the GQX episodes. It really sold me on the whole premise and that's why I gave a shot to the show and lemme tell you: I understand now.

It doesnt require too many tweeks to Turn A it up and imply that all AUs are just another Lalah cycle to get the Char equivalent to live.

The episode has perfect pacing to build up to her cathartic outburst and the moment she reaches out to grab him ties everything together so well. Even visually we see her arm reaching first before bringing the action to the mobile suits in reality. The emotionality in things like swiping away the front armor of that dom in a wild lashing out attack is fantastic.
