anime originals made today aren't making any attempt in being as great as this

Apocalypse Hotel literally just ended. It was flawed in some respects, but overall was an ambitious and fantastic shattering of the trope-mold that infests almost every single anime released in the last decade i swear. Made in Abyss is probably a better contender for the Code Geass throne though.

>i want a new code geass, i don't want something different!
as a mildly autistic guy, stop being a fucking autist, just because somethings different doesn't mean its bad retard. Go watch Isekais if you want to see cringelords pursue power and 'outsmart' everyone. The Eminence in Shadow would probably be your thing, considering its the most painfully cringe anime i ever watched in my life.

We got "new code geass" and it was horrible.

Lelouch only does half of these things. If anything he is a cheater and is called out on it.

Of what exactly? Bulge-less spandex shots?

All these years later I'm surprised Sunrise has never gone back and released a "revised" second season of Code Geass that's more in line with their original plans for it, before they had to change it into R2. As far as I know we've never even gotten a manga version of this. I'd like to see it, the more "adult" take on the second season, that would have included the things we know they threw out, like Suzaku's connection to Geass and his romance with Cecile.

I love Trigger originals too especially KLK which is allegorically on a par with Code Geass with a different method, more plausible yet not as direct as CG. It is definitely a masterpiece of Sunrise, especially its thought provoking contemporary relevancy.

qrd? Suzaku felt like such a side character despite his supposed "importance"

Made in abyss is a unique, beautifully animated and drawn dungeon-delve/adventure anime, solid english VA work, interesting premise and compelling characters. Pedos and Pedo-schizo-hunters screech about it alot, but i didn't care and just enjoyed it for what it was. A visionary work with alot going on, and loads more potential to be realised.

Apocalypse Hotel is a piece of art, funny, depressing, beautiful, obsessive about running themes, and always surprising you at every turn. It doesn't abuse the endless tropes and cliches EVERY other anime abuses, and treats you like an adult for once.

It's got flaws, but, moreso than any other anime i've watched in years, its got SOUL. I'm currently praying it becomes a sleeper hit and they make a movie sequel, because its tragically only done moderate numbers and will not get a second season. Its 12 episodes, the first ~3 minutes of ep1 alone is a masterclass in storytelling.

I'm not sure if we've ever gotten the precise details, but there was supposed to be some kind of hidden connection between Suzaku and the Geass Cult, one that explained why he was so freakishly athletic and able to perform such impossible physical feats.

Suzaku is literally the deuteragonist of the show, if he feels like a side character you don't understand what you're looking at.

>>280022762
He certainly had a few weird run-ins with C.C. in season 1 that implied he had some kind of odd connection either with Geass or with her. Also not following up on his relationship with Cecile was an actual crime. I guess there's no reason they can't secretly be together in the Kowa era but realistically he's banging Nunnally.

For me, despite its more retarded, confusing and/or infuriating moments (particularly in R2), it's still one of the GOATs just for being, if nothing else, the very definition of entertaining. You never know what kind of batshit crazy situations are going to unfold. It's wild and bombastic, and it fully leans into it. Is that really so hard to replicate these days?
