Looks more like the frenemy rival who eventually becomes either the only other useful person in the cast who isn't the mc, or useless and part of the mc's cheerleader squad.
Yes I read all that from his appearance but the one thing he doesn't strike me as is a good design for THE main character. No sir I don't like it, or his goofy Sora shoes, the godmons look great though.
