One time I met Noriko Hidaka in person and some guy told a very long story that amounted to him getting through an active combat situation in the army alive by remembering a speech Noriko gave in Gunbuster and asked her what she was thinking when she did the recording for those lines.
After the exasperated translator told her all the multiple minutes worth of his story uninterrupted her answer was (truncated) that Noriko is someone who's heart literally burns (she said moero) with her desire to protect the people she cares about, and she did her best to channel that feeling as she performed the lines that a dude who was getting shot at remembered in the moment and he was able to get him and his friends out alive.
Isn't that cool?

That is cool.
When I have to do something I don't like I sometimes think about Jung's breasts and that helps as well.

This thread reminds me of a particular pet peeve of mine.
I call it, "the victory lap fallacy".
It's basically where, any person who is successful in anything, attaches some sort of meaning or unusual reason for their victory after the fact. Usually a lie.
For example:
>I was able to become successful in business because of sheer spite and rage
Or
>I was able to become number one in this game because I thought of anime girls cheering me on
etc. etc.
It's really fucking annoying and I notice it everywhere.
They're high on the fumes of their success (as they should be, success is hard earned) and just say any bullshit.
Not that your guy was lying OP, I honestly believe it. Anyone autistic enough to watch gunbuster + join the army is a mega-mega gun autist. Who would think of such things in an active combat situation.
Anyways any other anons noticed this sort of thing?

Not really since this character is nothing more than a shallow reference just like the garbage we had in GquuuuuuX.

sounds like bullshit nobody's having nice straightforward thoughts in combat that make for a compelling clear story afterwards. he probably believes it but it's bullshit.

Neat. Noriko is also cute and her dialogue is among the greatest in the history of the medium.

that's just you being autistic, people dedicating an achievement to whatever random bullshit that came to their mind has always been a thing throughout human history
>I was able to become successful in business because of sheer spite and rage
and this isn't even a lie

>has always been a thing throughout human history
Yeah but it's intellectually dishonest.
It doesn't really matter in all honesty but it irks me a lot.
>and this isn't even a lie
It is, though. Every time someone attributes their success to spite and rage they are lying through their teeth to sound cool.
Try succeeding in anything while being consumed by anger, it's impossible.
