When you think about it it was better with all the monsters at that level, adding monsters below demon level was just redundant filler that bloated the cast, stole screen time, disrupted the pacing and was bad writing because they were completely useless to the monster association.
It doesn't make sense for the association to look for and want monsters so weak that they're useless when you have a lot of demon and dragon levels and it doesn't seem that such powerful monsters would be interested in having such weak members in their group. Only demon and dragon level monsters should have been added, it also makes the association more threatening and cooler by only having and accepting monsters at that level.

There was no need for the tournament, there was no need for monster cells, there was no need for Gouketsu and Sage Centipede, let alone Sage Centipede having a fight with Blast, there was no need for Garou's fight with Metal Bat, there was no need for Garou to fight with that group of heroes instead of just the guy with the machine gun, there was no need for the addition of a bunch of heroes and monsters, there was no need for the son of a financier of the association to be kidnapped or for mercenaries to be sent and controlled, there was no need for Orochi. It starts with the S-class dominating against the monsters, only to get the situation turned against them once the cadres show up, and then it turns again when the utter monster that is Tatsumaki pulls up the entire base, until Psykos gets her and Genos beefs it, except then Bang pops up, kills two cadres, shows Homeless Emperor and Black Sperm as no threat, and is about to fix everything until he gets hard countered by Psykos and it looks like everything's fucked until King bluffs the Cadres into a pause, Fubuki arrives to deal with Psykos, Zombieman returns to choke a homeless bitch, and Sweet Mask arrives to conduct justice.

It's a constant stream of cool moments, threats, and excitement, and ONE really pulled it off amazingly.

Come to the conclusion that if manga opm was its own thing, that basically up until ninja redraw I would think that it’s basically fine. I would definitely it had gottten worse with the ma slowing the pace to a crawl with power creep and redraws and I would hate it once the ninja arc with its redraws and the constant insertion of god and blast, but at the end of the day I would think it’s just solid junk food with great art. Even though turning tatsumaki into into pure sex led to Murata lobotomizing her character into a generic tsundere I still love the design. It's a bit complicated. The tournament arc was also happening in the middle of an MA offense that made the arc feel longer than it really was, but the most important thing was that we were teased with a manga-original fight starring Garou and Watchdog Man (who never got any focus in the webcomic) right as the tournament was starting up. In the end, the actually interesting new stuff that was supposed to expand on webcomic characters was off-screened in favour of original things.
If Watchdog Man vs Garou wasn't teased, I honestly wouldn't have minded the tournament arc as much. Blending in the tournament arc with an MA raid on cities made things a little too messy for its own good.

The manga "adaptation", unfortunately, is simply the face of OPM going forward. When most people think of OPM they will think of the manga. When people barge in, the manga is an obvious shining fat weak point that will get struck over and over again because we are still feeling the aftereffects of the shitflinging from years ago.

In Bang's defense, he has nothing to counter psychic powers, and unlike with Garou, Psykos doesn't need to let up her technique to attack since Homeless Emperor does it instead. It's just a super bad matchup for him.
If Fubuki was there to give support and protect him from Psykos, Bang would've easily been able to eliminate Homeless Emperor and Psykos as well, leaving only Evil Natural Water and Black Sperm as threats. Maybe Bang and Bomb could've even dealt with Golden Sperm, leaving only the water, who lacks a real weakness.

King is pretty obviously designed as an exaggerated Mr. Satan kind of character, and that includes the part where he does genuinely want to be a hero and ends up risking his life when the chips are down, especially after meeting with and growing from meeting the real heroes of the story.

It was ruined from the start. Some may not have noticed but this is the first time in the webcomic where a character(not named Saitama) was able to one-shot a dragon level monster. Yes, Bang was the first one to do this. Meanwhile in the manga, Flash already one-shotted two (2) dragons even before the cadre's fights, Child Emperor single-handedly killed Phoenix Man and Drive Knight defeated a cadre without much trouble.

The manga completely fucked up this and downplayed the dragon class. I guess that's why I didn't mind much the addition of Gouketsu and Elder Centipide, because they still showed the true threat that a dragon level represented, with Saitama being the only one who was able to defeat them at the moment.

What truly displeases me is the redraw of the Garou fight.
The first iteration was good and followed the spirit of the webcomic with Garou not even close to Saitama or comprehending his power.
After all Garou was the destined enemy of Boros the prophecy told about.
The redraw had Saitama actually forced grow as somehow Garou was actually catching up to him.
This fight was the epitome of rule of cool the story was supposed to make fun of and not endorse.
The Boros fight was supposed to look impressive as Saitama somewhat understood Boros solitude, so Saitama made the fight drawn out to give Boros the exhilarating feeling of a challenge he was looking for.
