This anime proves what I've been saying for decades, almost all western music is garbage, because at the end of the day the only thing that matters is who is singing the song and what the lyrics are saying, the music is never important. This is why anime songs are better, I don't know who is singing it or what they are saying, it just sounds nice.

Nearly all of mainstream western music nowadays is written by armies of professional musicians hired by producers to maximize it's spread so the lyrics are always at the end of the day insanely shallow and vapid but that's unfortunately what's necessary to get the attention of most amount of people. Now while Japan isn't completely innocent of that (see idol songs) you can definitely see a big difference of effort when a decent amount of the big mainstream songs in Japan still use real instruments when in the west it's 99% samples and highly produced instrument machines.

An unsurprisingly shallow gimmick anime. I always hate it when there’s a musical scene in anime, which sounds nothing special, but the audience and the narration are like “WOOOWWW SO GOOD”. Pretty meh ending to a disappointing show. I feel like band anime lives and dies on it's characters and pretty much all 4 of the MCs are just exactly who you expect them to be the second they show up, aside from Shiraya being a maso which only then is played off as a joke. I would have appreciated more SoL/non-rock moments just to flesh out the characters and their relations more and make them more likeable.

The audience were a bunch of normalcattle who don't care about music and only "liked" Bacchus for their looks in the first place. It makes sense that they'd switch to Rock Lady for equally superficial reasons. Rock Lady proved their point about how easy it'd be to win them over.

Now that it's over, personally, I'd give it a 1/5. For a music anime, there's just not enough focus on the music, and even though the final episode was probably the only tolerable episode so far, the writing of Bacchus is embarrassingly bad.
