While we could blame the author, the truth is that it's the editor to blame, this series had a good first chapter and then took the worst direction possible for the series, MC was dense like a door and so there were never any genuine romantic moments between the protagonists, just the same gags over and over, all of that with half assed generic isekai/otome plotlines. I get the feeling some authors and editors are really confused as to why some non yuri works end up building a yuri fandom and they start believing the shorcut for success it to write as little yuri romance as possible while building the characters as a couple.
