Very cute visuals and song, but it's behind season 1 and S. It's nice seeing the dragon forms, even Ilulu's (whose colors I take issue with. I don't understand why coolkyou insists on the brown horns for her).

From what I read, the film ranks no. 3 in the Japanese box office, and I'm hoping it remains there or even higher. Reviews are good to great.

Having brown horns in the movie is weird considering Kyoani already changed their colour for season 2. My issue with Ilulu is that she's become a fluffy dragon instead of a giant, sentient mass of fire but I guess that's harder to turn into a marketable plush. Ranking third on the first day sounds like a good sign. If it performs well at the box office, that'll help our chances of getting a third season leading into an Elma movie.

If I'm not mistaken, the manga had the proper, yellow colored horns that KyoAni adapted. Since Season S, Coolkyou changed them to brown. It looks worse, but I can't argue with the author's visual decisions too much. The closest we got to Ilulu's true form is the Blu-ray box and board game artwork. Everything else is the fluffy, plushie dragon that appears in the manga.

Season 3 would be great, and I'm optimistic about how positive the movie's reception has been. It'll all be up to KyoAni's decision. I'm unsure whether or not Elma's arc fits best as a film or a season.

Rather than the usual slice of life stories, the next chunk of the manga is a continuous arc. It made more sense to adapt it as a movie than to have most of season 3 dedicated to the arc then a bunch of unconnected stories at the end. Volumes 9-11 would work better as a season 3, with volume 12 potentially being adapted as a second movie.

Based on the trailers, I wish Azad's portrayal in the movie was maybe 5% more evil? There are a couple of shots of him we haven't been shown that could satisfy me though.
