Post what pre-2000s anime you are watching

I have a question for all the owners of a CRT TV and an HD TV. Given a cel animated OVA that's been released in both Blu-Ray and LD/DVD, do you watch it on your CRT or the HD TV? Which do you think provides the better and more "authentic" viewing experience?

I dont worry about having an authentic experience but all my tapes and laserdiscs look fine for the most part on a modern tv when i watch them but i would prefer to watch them on a regular tv so i dont have to have my capturebox to do the whole composite to hdmi thing and mess up the aspect ratio.

Finished Urusei Yatsura after like 5 years of watching it off and on. Final episode was perfect. I still have 2 movies and all the OVAs to watch but it is nice to cross a long classic off my list.

Started Sakigake! Otokojuku only on episode 9 but enjoying it quite a bit. I hope the other characters in the OP show up soon, the loser first years have done their job and Momo needs some actual equals to bounce off of.

Half way done Cyberteam in Akihabara and every time the prince and principal talk I wonder if they are taking the piss. They spout off utter nonsense about pandora's box, the light of Rosenkratz and Darwin cutting humanity from God's lineage. Decent show besides that, cute JCs and the henchwomen's hot springs trip was a great episode.

Took a break from Shounan Bakusozoku after episode 8 (the flashback to the first group of bombers) because I thought it was the weakest one so far. The best episodes were the school festival episode and the surfer episode.

Watching "El Hazard" tv series (the first one), so far it's good

The only use I see for a crt is if you only have a low quality version available and want to mask its quality. Other than that, why wouldn't you watch it on an hdtv? Feels like a waste viewing a high quality bluray version on a crt and wasting all that detail.

I've used my CRT to watch some old anime but novelty isn't as big of a deal as you think, it's really good for poor quality releases but I tend to just watch stuff on my LCD and use my CRT for 2D games though I did hook up an antenna to my CRT which it's 2008 CRT one of the last so it has digital tuner so I could watch MeTV toons on it.

Oh yeah, I watched that recently and enjoyed it. I was surprised at how few harem hijinks there were - there was like one instance of the other two girls getting jealous, but besides that everyone focused on the real problem and accepted Makoto going after Ifurita. It was pretty refreshing. I also like how the princess is set up to be this pure damsel and then she's a total bitch. It would've been awful if she'd been around for more than one episode, but since she's just at the very end it's like one joke and that's fine.

That said, the Phantom Tribe felt pretty half-baked. I would've preferred either more focus on them or making Jinnai the final boss. As it was it was a bit unfocused.

Still, good show. Ifurita is super hot

I just purchased a new external HDD to replace my old one that went kaput months back, and I'm working out what shows I should prioritize finishing. The first will probably be Ginga Senpuu Braiger since I just kinda stopped midway through over a year ago and never got back to it.

I watched og macross a few days ago, it was pretty good but i feel like it started to get boring during the last 7 episodes or so
