The issue is that Brazilian presence are not that big in Japan. Most foreigners in Japan are other asians like Chinese, Philipinos, Thai, Koreans, etc. on top of that Brazilians are invisible. If they are pure blooded Japanese they just seems like another Japanese unless you talk to them. If they are mixed Japanese assume they must be some other Asian. If they have very little to none Japanese ancestry they just get lumped with Americans. Black? Must be American. Blue eyed blonde? American. I have met Japanese people say they never met a Brazilian before when I see them on the supermarket or the streets, it just donโt register to them since Brazilians can look like anything.
Also props for them to make Brazilian characters actually diverse in looks instead of just being uniformly brown like many people do.
