The problem with the KJV is that it like the geneva bible it was based on uses the masoretic derived translation of the OT. The masoretic is an incredibly corrupted book where post christ rabbis (pharisees/edomites) edited out anything they thought too christian to create rabbinical judaism.
I love some of the phrasing chooices of the KJV but it has issues. For american prots it's much worse because of the influence of the schofield study bible...
I've heard that it's actually best to read a version where the words that don't have direct translatable equivalents are left in place as greek or biblical hebrew with only annotation describing their meaning.
Words like Elyon, Elohim, El all get translated to god but have very different meanings in the literal.context
