They are not two souls or separate entities. Rikuo was just bullshitting everyone in the earlier chapters because he hadn't accepted his youkai part yet. Night Rikuo is just a more bold and violent Day Rikuo, which is just like turning super saiyan. There is a reason why the we don't see the two forms interact anymore after Rikuo exhanged sake cups with his subordinates.
