That's the problem with Freiren as a whole, at least half if not more of the total cast are apathetic, reserved practically minded people who are basically always level-headed deadpan looking even during fights where their lives are on the line or when being told important/emotionally overwhelming information.

It's one of my pet peeves that the dress code of named characters in Frieren seems to be pretty arbitrary JRPG stuff compared to what the background population is wearing. You got Kanne prancing around in a tank top and hotpants or Ubel in her SM fetish attire yet the background folk all wear ye olde peasantry attire and no one bats an eye at the clashing wardrobe of names characters. Even a one off sentence like "going by your attire, you're from the southwest, aren't you?" or somesuch would go a long way to make the world feel like an actual place instead of a stock fantasy backdrop.

I actually tried to watch DM but dropped it after about 6 episodes, there’s just something wrong with it. The party just cooks and eats dungeon monsters every episode. The writing, the characters, something just feels off, like there’s going to be some lecture on racial equity or fat shaming just around the corner at every moment. It feels like one of those shows retarded women put on Netflix to go to sleep (with dubs). I couldn’t even watch it while sloppy drunk, just not for me.

Really sucks because I wanted to like it and marcille is cute. Oh well.
