I can't wait for Superman, Fantastic Four and Jurassic World so they can eat Demon Slayer's box office. Especially Jurassic World. This way, they can stop milking Mid Slayer and get back to Type Moon.

Hopefully add a fight scene for a new Upper Moon 5 against the retired Hashira, give Nezuko more character development and plot purpose, and extend the DKT fight (all probably in the second or third movies).
Would also be neat to get a Rengoku appearance (just one more time) having a brief conversation with Akaza, where he and Koyuki help Akaza anhero. Always thought Rengoku served a similar role for Tanjiro as Keizo did for Hakuji/Akaza. Maybe Akaza realizes he's an evil POS and decides to stop killing people. Oh, and in my wildest fantasies there's also a freeze-frame moment for each of the characters (Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Kanao) where their names pop up on the screen after defeating an Upper Moon, and it titles them as "Hashira" like when Douma bites it, it freeze frames on Inosuke and some text pop up on the screen labeling him the Beast Hashira, and Kanao the Flower Hashira.

They are focusing on Akaza, he takes the spotlight after all. Douma vs Shinobu is pretty short as well as Zenitsu vs Kaigaku. Since it’s pure fights, they won’t have to cut or stretch content as they can end the movie with Tokito falling into Koku domain.

Kanao definitely gets filler this time because when Akaza dies and Douma talks about that, there was already some off-screen fight between them. Douma's entire backstory could be moved to the second movie as well.

Not really. Superman and F4 both have the same amount of screenings as DS (Japan don't have many theaters, it won't be like Mugen Train again). Even if Superman and F4 don't kill DS, they can still pull punches, especially since Superman releases one week before DS and F4 a week after
Jurassic World can and absolutely WILL make DS bleed by Week 4, though. It's one of the few franchises from the West that's performed consistently well. The original made over $75M there. Fallen Kingdom made $70M+ and Dominion? $46M and it was mid.
>>280059204
Doesn't matter, Marvel still sells and so does Superman
Filmarks is Japan's biggest film user-review and social tracking platform (think of it as Japan's version of letterboxd + imdb watchlist + rotten tomatoes "want to see" score mashed together). Superman and F4 are both ranked higher than Infinity Castle as the most anticipated movies of July.

When are you dumbasses going realize Muzan's fight is almost the length the whole Red-Light District?

Then you would ask, can't ufotable just compress it? Then I would say, you haven't watched this series at all. There's no compression, ufotable hasn't done that before and won't start now, all these long fights are packed with dialogue in-between, even more so with the likes of Kokushibo and Muzan who have entire flashbacks in the middle of it.

Muzan is either a final surprise fourth movie, or it comes back to TV as a final season.

Nah, I just want to see Aniplex get kneecapped because they've been so irritating lately, especially with the Mugen Train milking (this is the third time they re-ran Mugen Train, on theater, on YouTube and before the trailer). Them running the entire series on theaters too, but what's funny is that none of the recaps (Mugen Train, Swordsmith Village, Hashira Training) are ranking on Toho. Only hardcore fans show up, meanwhile JJK's Gojo's Past recap movie is packed and placed #9.

It makes the first reality punch all the more sweet so Aniplex can stop acting like they're James Cameron for anime.

Not for Jurassic World. It's one of the few IPs from the West that consistently performs well. It's a franchise that's TOO good at printing massive piles of cash so they'll be repackaging the same thing and re-selling it to people for the rest of human civilization. It's a universal franchise that caters to everyone. Kids? Dinosaurs. Adults? Nostalgia. Casuals? 4DX. Old farts? They saw the original in theaters. Also, I read the early reviews for Rebirth and people say it captures the spirit of the original Jurassic Park. This is a guaranteed $50M+ in Japan alone.

This isn't some utopian sandbox where everything prints money in peace. Theaters have limited screens, limited showtimes, and a finite audience wallet. It's not like 2020 when theaters was nothing but Demon Slayer. People aren't going to double-dip for one movie.

The series has absolutely grown well enough internationally to avoid this damn gap between between the JP release and the worldwide one, anyone outside Japan will have to wait 40 days to see it, an anime-only will get bombarded to death with rogue camrips by foreigners going to Japan to see it before anyone else (actual nips never camrip it themselves) before September comes by.

If I were to guess for this movie's box office, it would be:
>Best-case scenario for international (non-Japan):
US: $15-20M (September is a dump month)
France/South Korea/Taiwan/Hong Kong: $30-40M combined (Taiwan does all the heavy-lifting, Mugen Train made $20M followed by South Korea where it made $15M while in Hong Kong it made $4M amd France it made $6M)
All other countries (LATAM, EU, SEA): ~$20M tops
That's a maximum of $100-110M internationally.
>Actual likely total worldwide:
$150-170M, maybe around $200M tops. $70-90M (or $100M) from Japan. $80-110M international.

It'd make significantly less than Mugen Train, there won't be any China release to carry it around and there's no Covid boost either that emptied theaters and gave Mugen Train the chance to run for 6 months. That, and franchise fatigue is real. They've been pumping out Demon Slayer content non-stop.
>>280060271
Irrelevant rambling. Sony executives are the ones who are saying they'll make more money than Mugen Train (won't happen) and coping about how they could have made more money without Covid (their words). Even if Jurassic World makes only $10-20M in the box office, that money is still not going to Demon Slayer. Same with Superman, that's the most anticipated movie of July.

Nope. Delusional is thinking you cracked some billion-dollar franchise formula from some once-in-a-century freak accident, when really you're just stretching a 2-season story over 7 years and milking it like it's One Piece the way Sony are thinking lmao.

Also, Superman drops one week before Infinity Castle which is really bad for DS. There's limited prime real estate in multiplexes. IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema are all are finite. Superman launches July 11 and it has solid buzz (which it clearly does it's ranked #1 on Filmarks while DS is #4, strong early reactions), theaters are going to hold onto it for more than a week. Infinity Castle walks in and finds that:
>IMAX screens are taken
>premium showtimes are already booked.
>casual moviegoers just spent 1,900 yen on superman last weekend
Btw, DS isn't on 4DX. Superman is, and IMAX Japan LOVES a visually good film with action.

Nah. Delusional is thinking you can repeat a once-in-a-lifetime, no-competition, pandemic-boosted movie. There's a reason why they chose to drop this movie worldwide on September (dump month) and NOT October, November or December (Oscar months). Zootopia 2 (guaranteed $1B+) and Avatar 3 (guaranteed $2B+) will eat DS alive. They're intentionally avoiding competition like they've always did.
>>280060840
It doesn't matter whether Superman only makes $20M, $10M or even $5M, lol. Superman and F4 might not outgross DS in Japan but their job isn't to kill it, it's to bruise it. They just need to:
>hit the international box office velocity
>pull premium screens away from DS
>force DS into tighter slots and worse hours (Japan doesn't have many theaters)
Even if they open and only make $5-8M lifetime, that's still screens DS could've used and money not going to DS which infuriates any company, and if Jurassic World even touches $50M in Japan (early reviews are positive, they say it's the best since the original Jurassic Park by Spielberg), that's money DS is not getting back. Every $10M, even $5M, diverted to dinosaurs is a dent in DS's box office armor. And by Week 4, DS's velocity will slow down, that's when the blood starts spilling.

Especially Kokushibo (#1) should be so strong as to make it seem like the idea of winning against him in anything resembling a fair fight utterly ludicrous. They should really bring out an overwhelming despair. The manga wasn’t talented enough to handle it so I really hope the anime directors can do something worthwhile with them.

I can understand retards on Reddit or xitter repeating ad nauseum that "the series will END with the trilogy, the marketing said so!" because most people are dumbasses that don't like to use their own heads and only feel confident when regurgitating "confirmation" of some crap they read online.
But if you've been posting on /kny/ for years, please try to use an ounce of logic before you just repeat this nonsensical impossibility here.

JUST DO THE MATH.
IT'S FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE.

There's not enough runtime.
Stop trusting what you "vaguely remember" from when you finished the series years ago. Just go check the manga and count the amount of chapters on your fucking fingers.

"B-b-but fights can be adapted faster!"

NO, in this franchise they fucking can't, you moron. Just look at RLD. Fights in KnY are an internal monologue fest in the first place, and then we still have long flashbacks like Akaza's, Koku's, Yoriichi's and so on.

THERE IS NO TIME.
IT'S FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE.
YOU COULDN'T DO IT IF EVERY MOVIE LASTED 3 HOURS.

The Muzan fight ALONE, if adapted with the same pacing Ufo has used since the first season, would last 8 episodes with no additional epilogue. Don't trust your memory. Go to any online reader and check for yourself.

"B-but what if they just cut out stuff, then?"

Why would they do that when this franchise prints money? Seriously, why would they cut out anything? Why kill the cash cow earlier than they need to?

Any scenario where the series ends with the trilogy involves wishful thinking that Ufo will adapt the rest of the content in a completely different way than what they have done so far. Different pacing, different directing, different priorities.

And yet, we all know these movies will be later split for an 18-19 episodes season in 2029 as Aniplex holds an special event for the 10-year anniversary of the anime, to then announce "Kimetsu no Yaiba: THE LAST" and finally adapt the Muzan fight.

Screencap this post.
See you later.

The Infinity Castle arc could have (and should have) easily been turned into a season for TV instead of splitting a single arc into three movies. Demon Slayer isn't even long, it's really short. It's shorter than most other manga of its genre and Infinity Castle is shorter than a lot of other big battle shounen arcs, lasting only 47 chapters.

For comparison, Naruto's War arc lasted 217 chapters. Bleach's TYBW lasted 207 chapters. One Piece's Wano arc lasted 149 chapters. Dragon Ball's Namek arc lasted 83 chapters and Jujutsu Kaisen's Shibuya arc lasted 58 chapters.

Please shut the fuck up.

BTW, Tanjiro should stand NO chance, none, against Akaza. Obviously Tanjiro will win because he has to, but I fucking guarantee the movie director will not make it any less trashy / nonsensical.

I was writing this shit, I’d make the Castle arc a total fucking route for the protagonists. The Hashira and main characters face their first slap of reality on just how ludicrously outmatched they are. It’ll be a story about survival and escaping against all odds, and hyping up the Upper Moons for the next escalation.

Superman isn't a Cavill-only IP. Japan don't worship him like he's Takuya Kimura or Tom Cruise. He's well-liked but the average Japanese moviegoer wasn't packing theaters for JL or MoS like they did for Harry Potter or Titanic. What Japan DOES care about is
>the buzz
>the tone.
>the reviews
>and especially, the IMAX spectacle in 4DX
And this Superman has the James Gunn name on it, solid early reviews, top spot on Filmarks (which is not just casual fan data), and drops on IMAX. That's all that matters. From what I hear, Gunn's Superman isn't edgy like Snyder's. It sells hope and light-heartedness which Japan eats up when it's done right.

You forgot Akaza chased and actively looked for a fight, that's why he has no special room, at first. You also forgot that his final moment does take in a special room thanks to him busting a ceiling, making it a metaphorical scenery where Akaza is now being illuminated as his redemption.

Replying to me three times only tells me you're getting pressed, lol. It doesn't matter if Infinity Castle will outperform it in Japan, because I already estimated it will most likely because Japan has a preference for domestic media, but Superman will absolutely land the first punch on Demon Slayer while Fantastic Four will also push it around for a bit. Jurassic World is the one that'll make it bleed.

I'm not the first to voice this theory, but the trailer actually hints at Zenitsu's fight only being teased in this movie.
Notice it's the only one of the 3 main fights where we don't even catch a glimpse of action (we see Shinobu and Douma clash, and we see Akaza attack, but Zenitsu and Kaigaku is literally just the intro scene).

The math works perfectly if the Kaigaku fight is moved to the second movie.

It would look like this:

Movie 1 => 23 chapters with NO Kaigaku fight
(already longer than Mugen Train btw)

Movie 2 => by adding the Kaigaku fight, we get a similar lenght to Mugen Train (especially if anything is added to Zenitsu's, Inosuke's and Douma's backstories)

Movie 3 => the Koku fight is already as long as the Mugen Train arc by itself, especially if they add anything to his backstorie.

It will for sure. It's still selling and will continue with those movies and after them imo. Kanzenban will provide a fresh boost of 200k-1m WW per volume. maybe more if it releases during the finale movie for a big boost. and 100% it's already at 200m+ according to official data released WW let alone data we don't know about (China, Asian countries etc)

Nice headcanon. There's no hard proof that 60% of OP's volumes are unsold. If that were true, Shueisha wouldn't keep printing at that level. Publishing isn't a hobby, they track returns, POS data, regional velocity, all of it. If 60% were gathering dust, they'd scale WAY harder than just dropping from 4M > 3.5M > 3.2M.

Also, OP doesn't need to sell everything immediately. It sells long-term. That's how publishing works for massive legacy titles. Bookstores don't stock dead weight for 20 years. If it didn't sell, it'd be out of rotation. That's why every major arc push (Gear 5, Netflix, Red) sees old volumes spike, which proves there's a viable long-tail.

You keep saying 'o-old volumes don't sell!!' like that's a gotcha, when DS doesn't sell at all anymore because it's over. OP still charts. There is no equivalence.
>shoseki shows up to 500 copies selling
OK. So a decades old series sells hundreds of copies of volumes 1-60 per month, and you think that's bad because...? DS sells zero of those volumes now unless Ufotable reminds people it exists with another recap movie. Btw, Shoseki only covers a slice of the retail market. It's not a full picture. It misses:
>digital sales
>online exclusives
>convenience stores
>overseas markets
>bundled box sets
>gift/anniversary editions
You trying to base a series' relevance off of selective Shoseki visibility is like checking the weather in one city and declaring the entire country’s climate. Stupid.

Not really. Box office tracking isn't easy to predict because post-Covid era has made box office tracking more inconsistent, as it has become harder to gauge the interests of moviegoers using traditional tracking measures. Minecraft made $900M in box office (I was right about that one btw) and people projected it'd underperform.
>>280061763
If you're so sure it '100% hit 200M,' then why are you mad Shueisha hasn't confirmed it? Because you're guessing, not reporting facts. Shueisha literally controls the announcement, and if they haven't confirmed it, it hasn't reached it or it has, and they don't think it's worth shouting anymore for a concluded series. Not every sales milestone needs to be milked for PR, especially when the franchise peaked in 2020 and is now coasting on anime movies and merch handled by Aniplex.

Also, circulation =/= sold. You're out here trying to read Shueisha’s mind and claiming malice based on a milestone that only you think they should've posted by now.

Saying 'I-I'm not going to argue' now is like rage-quitting after losing 11 rounds and pretending it was your idea to stop. Cope harder, lil bro.
>even just from the first bullshit you spout
You just outed yourself as not understanding how print strategy works, lmao. You know what publishers factor into future print decisions, retard?
>past print performance
>sell-through data
>retail velocity
>digital trends
>international orders
>tie-in media spikes (anime, streaming, merch)
You don't separate print from digital when you're forecasting demand. If digital surges, publishers anticipate cross-format demand. They adjust print based on total audience activity. Crying 'd-digital don't count!!' just shows you're desperate to ignore the part of the market that no longer favors your favorite series.

You mean the side character who got her ass carried by Inosuke and still somehow lost an eye? Man seeing Giyu in total despair just turns me on like mad, seeing his face filled with hopelessness gives me a raging boner and makes me lick my lips in anticipation. My dick made a massive tear on my pants, cause it became a slab of steel just by seeing cute Giyu tumble and fall to the ground crying because he does not know what to do. Is fantastic, I just want to go to him and lick his tears and every part of his body while he continues to wail and whine like a little kid. And then touch him all over while he trembles in despair and squirms with disgust at the same time he succumbs, until his body goes limp getting ready for what is to come.

I cannot express in words the height of the excitement I reach as he realizes he can go on no more, no water pillar, no power to protect, no nothing. And he becomes just a frail boy ready to be mandhandled without the power to resist, I want to grab him and tear his body, pierce his fragile ego as he loses the reason for his existence, making him see that there is only darkness beyond. His lips, his cheeks, his chest and thighs, his soft hair, all cells in his body rendered powerless. All his life fighting while pushing forward with doubts and pain, until he breaks and his muscled and toned body cannot move anymore from all the punishment, his spirit ready to accept and be penetrated by the full brunt and might of a fat, hard and hot truth, until he becomes a broken soulless husk. No homo because I only want to bone him in a platonic sense.

>Keeping the brand is more important than recycling paper
And now we're back to this broken record of a conspiracy theory that already got debunked. If OP's 4M print was just a trophy to protect, why did Shueisha scale it down afterward? They literally dropped it from
>4M (Vol 67, peak 2012)
to
>3.5M (Vol 100, major milestone)
to
>3.2M
And even lower in recent volumes. If they wanted to 'p-protect the record,' they'd inflate every new print. But they didn't because they follow the market. The 4M print happened when OP was breaking every chart during peak New World hype. They didn't prop it up, the market did.

Meanwhile, crybaby DS fags like (You) are still crying about a 3.95M print like it was a slap in the face. That number is literally the second-highest print in Japanese history, but somehow you treat it like a pity prize.
>sueisha played dirty and reduced kimetsu's final print so as not to touch op's record
Yeah, because it's not true, lol. What you call 'p-playing dirty' is just being smart. They:
>printed 3.95M upfront
>announced a reprint before launch
>sold 5M within weeks
That means their system worked. If they truly wanted to 'protect One Piece,' they could’ve
>fudged OP's numbers upward (they didn't)
>blocked DS from international exposure (they didn't)
>under-marketed DS during its boom (they didn't, it got front pages, color spreads, collabs, anime push)
But you don't talk in good faith. You just want a rigged narrative where your favorite series was 'wronged' because your ego can't handle the fact that DS peaked fast, ended fast, and is now completely inactive in manga sales. Meanwhile, OP still moves, still trends, and still sells. Your favorite series is the Jeremy Lin of manga.

I never said flop, I said respectable but not legendary. Mugen Train was a once-in-a-century fluke: no competition, 6-month run, and pandemic lockdowns.

Infinity Castle won't repeat that. Part 1 of 3, not a complete arc, and it’s about to get tag-teamed by Superman (one week early), Fantastic Four (Week 2), and Jurassic World (Week 4).

My prediction:
>Japan: $60-70M
>International: (US, Korea, Taiwan, France, LATAM, etc.): $80-110M
>China: Still banned
Total: $140M-180M worldwide. Maaaybe around $200M depending on other factors (like how Jurassic World performs, it's one of the few Western franchises that makes a lot of money in Japan).

That’s a hit, but not a record breaker. Not even close to Mugen Train's $500M run. If you think it’s doing $300-400M in a crowded post-Covid box office with zero China and no IMAX dominance... Well, I’ve got a recap movie to sell you.

Nope. You're dead wrong and clearly rewriting history. Mugen Train wasn't just ‘the only success during Covid’, it thrived *because* of Covid. It had no domestic or Hollywood competition. Zero. Everyone pulled out. Japanese people weren't traveling, weren't attending concerts, weren't going abroad, they were going to theaters multiple times.

It ran for six straight months in theaters while every major release got delayed or canceled and was one of the only PG-12 big-screen movies families could safely attend. People went back to see it two, three, four times because there was nothing else to see.

If you think the pandemic hurt it, that's a cute fantasy, the pandemic created the perfect storm that let it dominate uncontested. Want proof?
>Dune delayed
>The Batman delayed
>No Time to Die delayed
>Fast and Furious 9 delayed (Fast and Furious is VERY popular around Asia)
>Top Gun delayed (Tom Cruise is VERY popular in Japan)
Without all that, Mugen Train wouldn't even touch $500M full stop. It's not 'c-cope', it’s math, context, and basic industry logic. What you’re doing is revisionist cope and it's about to hit a wall when Infinity Castle struggles to reclaim even half that glory.

The only thing more inflated than Mugen Train's box office is your nostalgia.

The only reason why fans are more forgiving of his ass over say Endeavor is because Sanemi is a 22-year-old brat who yumejos can imagine themselves "fixing" while Endeavor is a middle-aged man who punched his wife once and beat up his child.

Why would that be a good thing though? That completely goes against the theme introduced in mugen train on how demons are always superior. That's part of the reason Gyokko wasn't a good villain, he gets slaughtered by a single marked hashira.

Because none of them had the perfect storm Mugen Train had. Not every movie had a hyper-popular seasonal anime finale right before release. Not every movie had IMAX, 4DX, MX4D, Dolby, and fan events boosting sales. Not every movie had wall-to-wall marketing saturation the way Sonic Music did and a rabid built-in fandom. And not every movie was canon and essential viewing, unlike the filler stuff Doraemon puts out every year.

You're comparing Doraemon, a family-friendly annual drop, to Demon Slayer, a cultural juggernaut riding peak hype, at the height of a pandemic, with zero competition in theaters. That's like asking why your goldfish didn't break world records just because it was in the same water as a fucking shark.
>>280064493
This is false. It made $150M after 3 weeks. It crossed $250M by Week 7. It took 8 MONTHS to hit $365M+ in Japan. Here’s the actual data (see picrel):
>After 10 weeks
$301M
>After 16 weeks
$352M
>After 28 weeks
$368M
>After 32 weeks
$367M
>After 41 weeks
$364M (adjusted back down slightly)

Mugen Train absolutely needed those extra months and got to stay in theaters that long because nothing else was coming out. That never happens anymore. So no, it didn’t just explode in 2 weeks and vanish like a firework. It was a slow-burn monopoly with free reign.

Yeah, keep doing that, my Brazilian friend. The only thing you've got left is frothing at the mouth. I gave numbers, comparisons, and context. You gave tantrums. When the box office hits and this doesn't even sniff Mugen Train's orbit, we'll see who's coping. I was right about Minecraft, I was right about Mission Impossible and I was right about Lilo & Stitch, movies Demon Slayer avoided.

The funniest thing to imagine is that Tanjiro's biggest enemy isn't Muzan or any of his small fry subordinates, it's dinosaurs lmao.

Tanjiro had to develop zenitsu's lighting speed, gain jesus sword and STW hax to finally end him. He damn near got away.

Here is an interesting addition to the SSV arc. Relating to Gyokko. 100% new anime content.
Why did Muzan pair Gyokko and Hantengu? Because their abilities blend well with each other. The new ability for Gyokko are his flying storm fish. He summons dozens of them, they fly above the village and create and unnatural thunderstorm, which blocks out the sun. That way, Hantengu only has one weakness.
Why this works? Ufo already did beautiful rain animation in the Mui flashback. they could paste it on the arc to give it a unique aesthetic. Would blend well with Hantengu's lightning powers. The thunderstorm would disappear when Gyokko gets himself killed, signaling to Hantengu that Gyokko is dead.

This is Olympic-level cherry-picking and you think citing CNN (a generalist, non-industry outlet) somehow overrides actual box office math.
>It only needed 2.5 months. The rest was just bonus.
Yes, it crossed $300M in Japan by late December but that's not your flex, that's your exposure. Why? Because it shows just how uncontested and stretched the box office runway was. Look at the raw numbers I provided from BoxOfficeMojo (which blows CNN's oversimplified 'milestone tracker' out of the water):

From Dec 20 to May 23, it made another $60M. That's 5 months of zero competition, and still raking in millions per week. Its legs didn't just exist, they defined the post-lockdown Japanese cinema landscape. If competition had returned sooner, that 'bonus' wouldn’t exist. You can't separate those legs from its record + they're part of the reason it became a record-holder. CNN's summary gives milestones, not context, which is what I provided in my chart. That article you posted gets it completely wrong like:
>Covid hurt the box office and Demon Slayer triumphed anyway!
Nope. Covid wiped the floor clean. Every Western blockbuster fled the scene. There were no MCU. No Bond. No Fast and Furious. No Dune. It was Demon Slayer or bust.

That's without mentioning the effect Covid had on people's psyche: in a locked-down nation, where international travel was cut, concerts shut down, and anime already had an enormous cultural presence, going to see the one major cinematic releas multiple times became a communal post-pandemic ritual. Re-watching Mugen Train was like a national pastime in Japan. Also what the article says...
>Fans were queuing for hours. That’s why it made money.
Yeah, and they were doing that because there were no other options.

It could've literally been a 30 second flashback like Hantengu, probably even shorter. Sadly, Gyokko remained a boring jobber to the very end. I guess that's what you get for being ugly.

Oh, so now it's 'way before Covid'? Nigga, it released in Oct 2020, smack in the middle of pandemic restrictions, travel bans, and cinema chaos. What exactly is 'way before Covid'? You're off by a whole year and a half. You're trying to argue a 2020 pandemic release is proof of pre-Covid appeal? That's just chronological illiteracy.
>>280066098
OK. ANN is a decent source for headlines. And yeah, I never argued that Mugen Train didn't do insane numbers early. The point isn't that it flopped before 6 months. The point is this:
>you can't isolate those numbers from the conditions that enabled them
>no Hollywood competition
>zero international travel
>concerts shut down
>IMAX dominance
>no other anime movie within 5 months that came close
>repeat viewings through the roof
It did make $300M fast. But how it got there still matters. That doesn't erase the fact that an extended, near-monopoly theatrical window supercharged its box office performance. Also, stop pretending ANN is giving deep market analysis. It's just echoing ticket sales. That's like citing a scoreboard and ignoring why the opposing team was benched. The article says
>the film sold 3.42 million tickets and made $43.8M in 3 days.
Which actually reinforces my point because that wouldn't happen now. Why? Because Infinity Castle:
>releases after multiple delays
>competes with Superman (already stealing IMAX screens)
>faces Fantastic Four a week later
>Jurassic World two weeks after that
>won't run for 6-8 months unchallenged
>has no China release
>and isn't even a full arc, it’s Part 1 of 3
Mugen Train was a bullet train with a green light and no other trains on the track. Infinity Castle is on a shared line during rush hour.

Correct. Mugen Train didn’t release in China, and yet it still made $500M globally WHICH PROVES MY FUCKING POINT. That is how uniquely artificial and unrepeatable the circumstances were.

Infinity Castle is releasing without China, just like Mugen Train, but with a crowded summer box office, no IMAX priority, no monopoly, and no cultural lockdown obsession. The conditions are not the same, so you can't expect the same results. Are you this fucking dense that you're unable to read the elephant in the room?
>>280066909
Cool, and Avengers Endgame exploded because of a decade of MCU build-up but if it had released during a random February against five other blockbusters and without China, it wouldn't have made $2.7B either.

You can't isolate a show’s momentum from the release environment of the film. Mugen Train rode 2019's hype straight into a pandemic vacuum. It was like launching a rocket into a windless sky. Perfect storm.
>>280066960
>Doraemon flopped!
Nigga, Doraemon is a legacy children's series that doesn't have the teen-to-adult crossover pull that DS did. And parents weren't dragging kids to theaters during peak Covid unless they had to. DS had teens, young adults, hype, and TikTok-level virality. That's not even a fair comparison.

Also, Doraemon isn’t IMAX-worthy, and wasn't pushed as a national event. Try again.
>Spirited Away held that number 1 spot for 19 years mind you.
Yes. And do you know why Spirited Away made its record during a normal theatrical climate?Because it didn't have six months of competition-free run. It didn't benefit from TikTok, streaming buildup, or social media mobs. And it sure as fuck didn't open with zero competing blockbusters worldwide.

Mugen Train passed it because it had both massive hype and literal global shutdowns funneling every ounce of attention into one film.

It isn't with that lineup coming up, lmao. It won't be anywhere near close to what Mugen Train makes, especially when Jurassic World drops by Week 4 and it's a franchise that will make Demon Slayer bleed. Even a moderately successful Hollywood film in Japan pulling $15-20M can disrupt local box office, especially in a crowded market.

You think a $40M movie taking up half of IMAX screens in a country with limited theaters has zero effect? That’s not how box office works, that's wishful thinking. Every screen taken = fewer premium showings = less revenue per showing for Demon Slayer, common sense.

>2025 (Akaza)
Zootopia 2 (guaranteed $1B+ maker), Spongebob (kid appeal), Avatar 3 (guaranteed $2B+ maker), Lilo & Stitch ($900M, I was right), Snow White ($200M, flop but most anime movies wishes it had a box office like that), Minecraft ($900M, I was right), Superman (projected to make $800M or even $1B), Jurassic World: Rebirth (guaranteed $1B), Fantastic Four: First Steps (projected to make $300-400M)
>2026 (Douma)
Avengers, Toy Story 5, Super Mario Bros 2, The Mandalorian & Grogu, Avengers: Doomsday.

Right. Because Mugen Train was the only movie playing worth a damn. Parents weren’t lining up because they were dying to see anime gore, they were lining up because it was a nationwide event that dominated all media for weeks. That wasn’t normal behavior, that was uniquely manufactured by circumstance. You can’t replicate national frenzy on command.
Infinity Castle can be great, it won’t be event cinema like Mugen Train was.

Are you? I'm not the one necrobumping a dead thread, talking to myself over an irrelevant dead manga. lol

Even on Twitter, the most diehard Black Clover fans abandoned it. Is that why you're hiding behind the success of other series? Because your favorite series can't stand on its own?

See, he tried to gaslight people into pretending eh WASN'T jeremy at the start of the thread and he didn't have a vendetta against kimetsu that's lasted for the last six years.
