Back then when this arc first started in WSJ I remember some anons being against not-japan, just because. Maybe they were just tired after years of Wano in OP, or they thought other places would've been better ideas, either way, this arc isn't that long. Still, you could say part of it is that Asta is basically separated from every other character we know, so you either like the people from the land of the sun, or you don't. Personally I like them a lot, but I can understand if others are not feeling it.

Well it's not really just that, Asta has nothing. He's literally working up from being a dwarf of a man without magic who was born a peasant, and while he's gotten strong, he has to realize again that he won't move any further without working for it. So I don't think the theme is so much "hard work vs talent" as it is not giving up and not getting too comfortable being where you are lest it starts making you feel weak and incapable or passing through new hurdles.

Finished reading volume 34. Arc is fine, just a way for Asta to power up after his defeat against Lucius, and I cannot help but to think that Ryu having precognition abilities is a way for the arc to go up faster without exposition nor introductions. I like the detail that other countries have different grimoires shapes like the scrolls here.
I don't like Ichika, she's a cunt, and not in a fun way like her brother. Her darkness armor spell is badass tho. Knowing Yami is really Yami's surname was pretty surprising. Also, Yami killing his clan Itachi-style was something I didn't believe and I was proven right, there was no way for him to have done that.
I hope that now that Morris is back Mars can have his rightful battle with him, hope the author doesn't lets me down a second time.
The five headed dragon has a cool design, I was scared when it was defeated so easily, but thankfully it was just a fake out.
Now that Asta and the sister are together again I wonder how the fight will go. In a while I will check this volume.

I liked his flashback and power up against Dante and then when he recognized Magna's strength and stayed to defeat Dante to not taint Magna's victory. His final slash moment was also hype af, but I hate it was useless at the end.
I liked Jack, he wasn't a complex character, but his magic was fun and his drive to cut shit up to prove his strength was admirable, if unhinged. Plus, he looks like Nnoitra from Bleach if he was a good guy, which is a bonus. Cannot help but to wish he would have been treated better, because while he had some cool moments here and there, ultimately I feel the author never gave him a decissive moment, most of his fights were either unconclusive or offscreen and even in his last scene he didn't accomplish much, which is a pity. I also preferred him as Yami's fighting buddy than Nacht too, sadly we only had that in the elf arc.
