Something about the overall direction was different, the characters were more endearing, the pacing was better, the humor was landing and the action turned out really cool. I personally don't care about Demon Slayer itself (I think it's a very dull manga that does nothing remarkable and has nothing that makes it stand out, the anime gave it a lot of life). I also don't hate Ufotable because they're just doing what Aniplex are asking them to do, I hate Aniplex however for acting like they suddenly cracked some billion-dollar franchise formula from some once-in-a-century freak accident and acting like they're Peter Jackson for anime by stretching out a very short arc that could easily fit into a 15 season into a whole ass trilogy like they're Lord of the Rings.

Let it sink in that this is the third time they've been milking out Mugen Train (first time as a re-release, second time they rebroadcasted it on YouTube, and the third time they rebroadcasted it again before the trailer, they made it an incentive to watch Mugen Train in order to watch the trailer). They've been cocky for five years over the success of one movie that succeeded because of a fluke and wouldn't let it go. The fanbase, that are predominantly made up of Hispanics, has also been very irritating for the last couple of years and let the Covid numbers get to them that they think everything that has the Demon Slayer on it strikes lightning again like Mugen Train did.
