I love the artstyle, it's pleasantly cartoony but still realistic compared to stuff nowadays. Most mangaka draw uniforms to be super formfitting, here you can tell they're made of a bulky material.

I really like the manga Shinichi. He wasn't a crybaby pushover even before being revived but I have to admit his character in the anime worked really fucking well with the contrast between how he started and at the end of the first season. The show had a lot of good changes including Kana.

The anime was a lot more consistent in the tone and how they treated him before/after migi heart, manga Shinichi had more of a mix of goofy/chad moments before and right now
Personally I think the contrast makes for a stronger story, but manga Shinichi is a cooler protag and also more handsomely drawn overall

Humans aren't the only animals who mourn the dead, but I know what Iwaaki's trying to do here and he did a outstanding job. In 4 pages and without excessive dialogue, he's able to portray how appreciating the dead is not driven by reason, but driven an emotion that we generally share and hold dear.

But I think he stopped caring after the dog died, and it took Murano's disgust and Migi's affirmation to realize that his behavior wasn't okay.
He hasn't lost his emotions, but he may have lost a fragment of humanity. And burying the dog was to prove to himself that he still has it.
It's the same as the fight before, where most humans would have just run away, but Shinichi kept fighting at his own expense because ONLY a human would do that.

This sort of interaction indicates that Shinichi isn't necessarily becoming less human, he's just switched gears to hypervigilance due to accumulated combat and traumatic stress. Migi is still the cool rational one, and rather than losing his emotions Shinichi has started to adapt a more merciless outlook as a coping mechanism.
