As someone who has read the original novel, I have no idea what the point of making this animation was. You're an animation—can't you just tell the story from the novel? So what I gathered from the first episode:
1. MC is from our world, but with some form of magic tradition he was pursing.
2. Due to some wierd intersection between the MC’s magic and whatever magic is going on in the other world, the MC is isekai’d into the body of Klein.
3. MC is being followed by mysterious persons, so he takes shelter in a fortune-teller shack (there’s a circus which will supposedly be relevant later). He speaks with a woman who’s pretending to be the fortune-teller for some reason who gives him his present fortune of “The Fool” for some reason, which the MC finds meaningful (new beginnings), and he thinks it’s evidence that there is a figure in the isekai which was also isekai’d from his world to the current one.
4. After running from the mysterious followers, he tries to do some magic from his original world, which summons him and two other people from distant locations together into a separate pocket space. The MC can control the space’s “gray fog” which he immediately identifies as the “game’s cheat system”, which suggests the MC believes he is an isekai MC.
5. MC immediately settles into the role of a Isekai MC by pretending to be a being of great power and insight, and learns about Beyonders and a few other new concepts of the isekai’s magic system. For some reason the summoned individuals agree to form a special committee who regularly communicate.
6. The police interrupt his summoned space so he is forced to release it and let them in. The police mind-palace the circumstances of Klien’s supposedly attempted suicide due to magic effect using a pistol and say that the MC is very lucky to still be alive.

Also note that all your worries are based on assumptions based on assumptions based on assumptions and as we can see a part of what you used as the inital premise (Leonard teleporting) wasn't even correct to begin with.

As for physical abilities. The novel never really said how much enhancement in "muscle power" the physical enhancements for each individual pathway gave. You just made up something in your mind years ago when you read the novel and now see that what is used for the donghua is a higher scale than you imagined in your mind and immediately panicked. But if you think about it, this only widens the gap between "lowest enhancements" and "no enhancement". In the novel, from sequence 9 to 6 it often doesn't feel like the people in question go beyond fights at individual or group scale. If in the donghua all of them "scale up" a bit, it won't make much of a difference. Like, perhaps a full-powered attack by a Dawn Paladin can demolish a mansion instead of just an average stone building? Wow, big difference. You see what I am getting at? They are ultimately still only "enhanced humans". Who cares if they can punch through 3 meters of concrete instead of 2.5 meters?
Now Sequence 5 is a bit trickier but are overall still mortals. But nothing changes about Sequence 4 being THE cutoff-point.

Whilst we are only on episode 2, I think I've seen enough.
It seems strangely over animated. Lots of liquid 3D animation but the people end up stiff by comparison. The use of 3D is fine, and the people researching the Victorian elements did their homework. There was a shot of a street that looked almost exactly like a slice of home in London. So good work there. Audio direction once again proves to be the Chinese's weakness, although decent composition is involved. I did try and read LotM a while ago and I think it's much better animated than in novel form.

I will however wait for an English dub. I can't stand Chinese. 6/10 I hope they fine-tune the direction. I thought the pacing itself was fine. All seems coherent to me, although I think some more exposition with the combat Beyonder would have been nice.

So everything they do whether it’s individual cultivation or grand conquests ultimately serves the same purpose: ascend higher, become more powerful, and push their world further up the cosmic hierarchy.

In general their ideas or rather their coat of paint is indeed shiny and fun at first but they all follow the same formula, and of course they can’t into writing characters which is their biggest flaw.

So that leaves two questions: At what time DOES it take place? And how does "Nocturnality", or rather it's strenghtening effect specifically, work exactly? I don't think the novel ever really explained it, so everything about it is speculation at this point. But it at the very least does give a possible explanation for Leonard physical power.

On the other side, regardless of what that red-aura thing was, I hope we'll get an explanation about what it is at some point.
