Why have Chinese and Korean knockoff cartoons suddenly become acceptable in the anime space?
Anime is anime because it is quintessentially Japanese. If we accept that animation made in other places as anime then there is no reason that things such as Avatar shouldn't be discussed here or found on nyaa.
