Satella allegedly sets the checkpoints to her benefit so if we follow the rules of you being Subaru/the protagonist, you wont get much freedom in how you use RBD. Even in half the IF routes, Subaru has checkpoints that take him all the way back to Arc 3 if he is not progressing the overall plot. Greed and Wrath IFs have progression because hes killing the Archbishops. Sloth IF Subaru's entire life will reset back to the start of his summoning when he dies of old age.
