Yeah, plus, it feels very disingenuous when the whole premise of the story is that pretty much everyone has superpowers, with Deku being the odd one. So him being forced to "return to the mean", is totally unfair.
All in all that's the word, I guess. "It's unfair". And in a way it's what makes the ending work for so many people I know. That it is realistic. You not always getting what you want, of life being a bitch and leaving you behind, "But you still gotta gambare all the same".
If THAT was the tone Hori was trying to accomplish, then fucking great. I don't like it personally, but sure, I accept it.
The problem is, how recent interviews revealed, he then added the suit and Deku going back to being a Hero. And im sure same goes with going back with his friends.
Its as if the ending wanted to be something "not 100% happy", and yet got forced to bend in an unnatural way towards that happy ending nonetheless.
But again, maybe im just a filthy westerner and I dont understand the deep nippon philosophy at play here.
