You know that type of story where the hero from modern society goes on some epic adventure, fights some great evil, maybe saves a world or two? Then when his quest is finished he returns home to modern normal society, abandons the specials powers and skills he gained on his adventure, and gets a normal respectable job like a responsible adult? He went on an adventure fulfilling his childish dream of being a great hero, and then settled down and and got a respectable normal job when he became an adult.

As others have pointed out, the issue is that Deku SHOULDN’T be a weakling, he has the STRONGEST QUIRK IN HISTORY. If Hori was trying to copy Naruto then it was a total failure — Naruto was “weal” only at the very beginning but then as his tailed beast chakra steadily unlocked he became unbeatable at every next stage. No matter how strong Sasuke and other characters became, Naruto was always a step ahead. Which is normal, Naruto benifits from the outrageous chakra of Nine-Tails in addition to his own ultra elite genetics. Of course he’s strong. Deku doesn’t have elite genetics, but he has the strongest quirk possible. Instead of quickly growing into it in an arms race with Shiggy, he just sort of stays weak. Then, all of the OFA holders had to lend him their own quirks to bail him out and make him useful in the war. All-Might didn’t need bailing out, and in fact cultivated OFA into god-level strength. But Hori simply couldn’t give us this simple shounen manga development, he had to make sure Deku stayed a weak cuck, like he was morally afraid of giving him even partial All-Might status. Why? So Kachan can keep being sugoi? To not leave all the other students behind and make sure the “team play” message is delivered?

Hori ROUTINELY hands the idiot ball to his characters. He has to, because he gives them quirks which puts him into a corner if a little bit of intelligence is used. For example, there’s no reason WHATSOEVER for AFO for not just…win. Straight up, outright, win. Even early Shiggy should just auto-win if he touches you. All-Might was leaking OFA out so was always on a time limit, but this was not a problem for AFO who had been permanently weakened but even weakened his Quirk still worked and after All-Might finally drops out, there’s literally no one on the planet who could stand up to him — why? Because Hori make Deku a weakling. Now Hori has a problem: Deku is too weak to handle AFO and Shiggy, so what does he do? Make AFO and Shiggy retarded and ineffective. Deku needs quality time forming bonds of brotherly love with Bakugo (while the rest of the class is ignored). Over and over again this pattern repeats.
