This question's been answered a gazillion times. Social media rotted society's attention span with instant gratification and constantly changing algorithms. Worldwide internet access has forced every piece of media to compete with literally everything else made by the entire world. It's impossible for even a good new IP made under these conditions to have anywhere near as much staying power as any IP from the before times. Something like JJK with absolutely no substance to its story or characters and nothing going for it other than shallow powerleveling shit and shock value that only works once had zero chance.
Realistically we need to start grading new media on a curve instead of expecting them to have Pokemon/Dragon Ball/Star Wars level success without the market conditions that allowed those IPs to become so dominant.

I wonder what anon meant by this? He seems to be implying something but its just so vague it's hard to tell.
Like is it supposed to be about having threads up, like there is now?
Is it supposed to be about big manga, like say, HxH which isn't being talked about literally right this moment? Long running managa like Ippo or Conan? Are they tourists who think having a general is good?
It can't be about popularity.
It seems they want to say something, at least, but everything I can think of doesn't mesh with reality. Like, even making this thread OP has it living rent free in his head, so what could he could he possibly mean by staying power?

It seems like modern anime watchers are incredibly easy to impress. How many times have you seen normies hype something up as the best shit ever only for it to be just kinda ok?
So their good-but-not-really series get their 15 mins in the sun and get promptly forgotten.

Just the other day the TT guys were claiming Orb is an "anime of the decade" contender. Imagine being this easily impressed.

All the newfags have really put a hamper on me finding good stuff to read and watch.

I don't know if i can be classified as an oldfag otaku wizard, but I've read all the series you mentioned and of all of them DDD is by far the least enjoyable. I got roughly 90 chapters in and just got bored of it, it wasn't terrible it just seemed kind of run of the mill, unremarkable. Dorohedoro is a very fun manga, very unique art, amazing cast of characters and a reasonable story (ending is a bit divisive but i liked it). CSM part 1 is good, but imo part 2 is a fucking shadow of part 1's quality in both story and art (not that CSM ever had particularly amazing art). If i'm being honest I never pay attention to any recs on /a/, more often it's more like shit i see on /a/ i'll put on my radar and in my own time i'll decide if i want check it out further. Just read stuff and decide for yourself if it's good, i had tons of people tell me DDD was kino but in the end it was meh, you might end up feeling the same about Dorohedoro who knows.

>Just read stuff and decide for yourself if it's good
Yeah but I personally find it hard to drop series midway. I know I shouldn't but I do. So I only read/watch certified bangers. That has been proving harder nowadays with everything claiming everything is 'peak'.

>Yeah but I personally find it hard to drop series midway. I know I shouldn't but I do.
Most people drop shit early, even i do, much rarer to get midway into something and drop it. I continued with DDD for longer than i would've normally just because i'd seen people shill it a bunch. My reading habits lead me to either binge a series in a few sittings or read 10-20 chapters every few days, I generally don't read stuff as it publishes chapter by chapter (prefer volume dumps or reading completed works). Most of the things i've dropped in the middle i've gotten passed the start but at some point i just go weeks without reading more chapters and decide to stop reading. That or publishing stuff that loses me along the way (Vinland Saga, To Your Eternity for example).

Nah. Jjk has bs in spades and in no way is it classic in nature.
It tries to do that thing of straddling the line of being seinen with some dark themes and shock. And fails at it.
Gratuitously complicated powers that don't pay off.
Character arcs that go no where. Worse still, main characters that have no arcs.
What did Yuji even accomplish throughout the series? Did he ever learn anything other than 'black flash'? The skill that is supposedly entirely rng based?
What cursed technique does he even have? I genuinely forgot.
Were there any "help me Luffy" type moments in jjk? Robin screaming she wants to live? Gohan going super saiyan 2 because of A16? All Might going Plus Ultra? Gon trading his future potential?

Put it this way. If I had a 12 year old brother, I would probably recommend he watch BnH instead and he will most likely have a better time what that show.

I like it, but I'd be curious to see how Gege would handle a second battle shonen series. I want to see Gege's HxH. >JJK has a terrible anime adaption
I wouldn't say it is terrible, but I understand why people would dislike the changes it made to certain fights.
3 undeniable anime additions that are really good are
1) Yuji gathering his grandfather's remains alone when you are meant to do that as a family showing his grandfather was mostly alone.
2) Yuji vs Choso fight, they added a sequence where choso makes a blood knife knowing it would burst open due to the water just to blind Yuji after the same thing happened to him earlier. Plus how they explain Choso's power using subway terminal graphics was really cool.
3) When Geto is taking his shower the sound of the water is mixed and overtaken by the star cult's applause. That sort of thing would be impossible to do in manga and improve an already great scene.

If season 3 and 4 and continue and more of these little additions I would be very happy.

Y'know. That is very fair. Even as a hater I agree with point 1 and 3.
I think they also did a great job on the intro episode of the Hidden Inventory arc.

That said, I think all their changes made them lose the "feel" of JJK. Little things like adding more visible curse energy when it is scarce in the manga and changing Geto's curse spirit balls to a jewel-like blue instead of pitch black. I also really don't like the major changes to all the fights and I think they fucked up Yuji's emotional moments after Sukuna's massacre and after Mahito's first Domain Expansion. I had very high expectations for the fights and they even removed my favorite scene from the Choso v Yuji fight. So, I can't change my mind on the anime.

>Gratuitously complicated powers
That example is a prank. Its a pachinko manual that is beamed into their head to simultaneously fuck with them and fulfills the condition of informing the opponent of the rules. The vast majority of any fight is all action without any dialogue. So at this point you're just mad at any explanation for powers at all.
>never paid off
What? Like you missed that the powers worked or like you missed that this example was a prank
>arcs
You think the characters don't have arcs? All characters in all story's have arcs. Arcs are what happens to the character. But yea this is that memory problem of yours I pointed out. Gojo had all the power but couldn't do it all alone despite that. Geto wanted to protect the weak but was disgusted by their dark side. Nanami wanted a simple life but ultimately couldn't turn away from curse spirits plaguing people.
>What did Yuji accomplish?
He defeated Sukuna. Ever heard of him? He defeated Mahito. He changes Jujutsu society from the ground up; person by person. Which is also carrying on Gojo's will. That's why he repeats Gojo's last words to the Curse User at the end.
>Did he ever learn anything......... and etc. wow
You've got obscene memory loss issues my dude. Fitting for someone trying to equate character growth to power level. To answer the question, yeah, he learns RCT, Simple Domain and Domain Expansion. He also acquires the blood manipulation technique as well as Sukuna's Shrine
>Where are the "help me Luffy" type moments?
Yuji breaking down after the Shibuya massacre and Nobara's death, declaring "he only chose to take deal with Jujutsu society in order to postpone his execution" >> Now, you'd have to have been paying attention before that but Yuji willing put himself in harms way for the sake of others constantly before that point. He was beating himself up because of his failure and treating himself like shit because he was too guilty to acknowledge his own good nature.

>Where are the "help me Luffy" type moments? cont.
Mechamaru's death. Nanami passing the buck. Mai dying and asking Maki to destroy the entire clan as her dying wish. Riko dying just as she is finally able to choose to live.
Yuji confessing to the Shibuya Massacre in Juju court. Back in Shibuya he said he was a coward just trying to postpone his execution but here he chooses execution because he feels so responsible for a massacre that he only played a part in due to stringent technicality.
>12 year old likes MHA better
>looked up top 20 jjk youtube vids.
yea, I already agreed there. My question is why do you have such a strong opinion about something that you know nothing about?
And mother fucker, I already told you its manga only. The anime sucks and then you come back with "top 20 youtube vids" What the fuck man.

Pic unrelated, I just love posting it. Every single fight has constant feints and tricks. Even just this pic is dense with it. There are 7 tricks here (one is hidden inside another), each pulled from a different fight. No pulling multiple from the same fights.

okay
>know nothing about
I know nothing about it cause I read all of it and promptly forgot all of it cause it was so unmemorable. I told you I only read your manga only pos. I watched the video to remind myself what happened in this absolutely mid series.
Ok you like jjk, I get it.

Nah, I remember plenty from other mangas I read as I have mentioned. There's a difference between being able to recall something and something being memorable. The only moment from jjk I will agree was memorable was Riko's death. Hidden Inventory was a pretty good arc.
Everything else that was mentioned was not at all at the level of the other shonen moments I mentioned.

JJK makes Naruto look subtle with how Kishimoto ripped off Togashi. First show that made me realize I have no connection to modern anime fans.

Ok, and you don't like it. I get it.
Really the only difference between you and me is that I know what I'm talking about and you can't even remember.
