If you don't have other experience with Gundam, it would certainly be refreshing to see a Gundam story with actual structure, as opposed to whatever GQuuuuuuX was trying to pull.
I think the main prerequisite to liking WfM is liking Code Geass. It was written by the same guy, and you can REALLY tell at times. So if you liked that show, rushed ending and all, you'll like WfM just fine. If not - maybe avoid.
