The real answer is that Umiri is hotter than Tomori, and the banter between Umiri and Taki is always fun to watch, even despite Umiri's catastrophic aura loss.

I also think that at least in MyGO, Umiri had the advantage of being Taki's only ship that was both cordial and didn't need Taki to literally baby them. It was fun and showed them as equals.
