I have soft spot for Sankarea. The year it came out in 2012 was towards tail end of what I felt was a big explosion in quality anime from the late 2000s to the early 2012s.
After that was the mid-2010s (and onwards, to this day) era of isekaislop. Which is not to say that Sankarea is some kind of a masterpiece. It isn't. But it came out towards the end of a much better era of anime.
Sankarea also represented a time when /a/ and 4chan in general was much better. This was back before election tourists began settling into 4chan after being kicked out of every other place and settling here to this day and making the place much worse. Funnily enough, behaving much like real-life refugees :^).
