The only bad thing Best Wishes did was treating Ash like dirt and ignoring N's storyline from the game. Its overall animation, characters , humor and various episode were still better than Horizon. Best Wishes also treated Unova Champion with more respect.
Horizon on the otherhand has the worst animation, uninteresting storyline & characters nobody cares about & zero humor. Also it also treated the Champions like jobber to make their OC the most important thing on pokemon world.

There is no actual rivalry or any competition like League conference to look forward too. Even the rivalry the anime tries to push feels forced and lack competitiveness like Ash's rivalry with all sinnoh rival.

Misty has gyms and the new artstyle butchered her design. Also Serena makes more sense of Kalos promotion.
I suppose, Serena could keep her JN personality but become more playful around Ash as she start teasing him and often scold him when he does something stupid. Ash also stop being nice to Serena and start to get annoyed at her teasing and often argues back when she lectures him. Basically like how he treated all the girls before XY changed his personality to turn him into the prince charming.
Brock would work nice as the third wheel often trying to help Serena as the wingman but often embarrass her/

The anime supposed to show how strong Geeta compared to literal-who like Liko and Roy as the champion of the region just like Cynthia destroyed Paul. Instead she and Nemona turned into a joke of a champion and officially turned Paldea into the most pathetic region.
Honestly I thought Nemona at least be treated as strong as Tenka was treated when she appeared on Beyblade X season 2. But nope, she became a joke in a desperate attempt to make people care about Roy.

Original Pokemon anime had good animation for their time, better humor., better group dynamic. more lovable characters and writers expend upon the worldbuilding of Pokemon world which was way better than the game with gym leader having more interesting personality outside of being just a roadblock.
Heck, Horizon erased all the officer Jenny and every law enforcement on Pokemon world to make the villain more threatening because that\s how generic and incompetent they are.

SM series suffered from the aftereffect of the Kalos League fiasco which got even worst with the new artstyle and Alola having no actual gyms for an actual league,
If SM series kept the original artstyle with Ash winning the Kalos League than most of the complain toward SM series would have disappeared.

Journey's animation is considerably better than Horizon, Ash and Goh had better dynamics than the entire RVT, Team Rocket was still funny, PWC was more hype than the Hero Storyline , game characters received more respect , Champion were only allowed to lose other champion & return from past characters.
In fact you can't find anything that Horizon did better than Journey which is saying a lot since Journey wasn't that good.
